I can go on and on about how incredible our horseback riding experience with Horseback Riding Conchal, Pacific Horses was. It truly exceeded all of our expectations. My husband, son, and I set off on this journey at our own pace, which made it feel even more special. My husband took his time at the back, leisurely enjoying the scenery, while my son and I strolled ahead with our fantastic guide, soaking in fascinating insights about Costa Rica's rich history, wildlife, and lush landscapes.

We've done horseback riding and other tours before, but this experience was hands down our favorite activity of the whole vacation. The horses were calm, well-trained, and suited to our skill levels. The tour was completely relaxed — no rushing, no rigid schedules, just a laid-back exploration of the beautiful surroundings.

Halfway through, we made a delightful detour to a local beach vendor for refreshing drinks, where we had the chance to browse some lovely handmade jewelry. It was a perfect, unhurried moment to take in the views and enjoy the local culture. There was absolutely no pressure to follow any strict timeline or routine — it was all about enjoying the moment.

I went on a vacation to Costa Rica and, as a horse lover, I was excited to join a horse tour. Unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable and left me deeply concerned.

During the tour, my horse stumbled and fell on me not once, but twice. While I was scraped up, I was fortunately okay. Initially, I assumed it was just an unfortunate accident, but the same horse stumbled again, making me question its fitness for the tour.

What made matters worse was the dishonesty of the tour operator. They assured me that the horse would be taken home to be treated and looked at. However, I later saw the same horse being used for the next group of tourists. This not only put other riders at risk but also showed a blatant disregard for the well-being of the horse.

To add insult to injury, the operator offered me a tiny refund if I agreed not to post a review online. I find this attempt to silence my concerns both unethical and unacceptable.

I am deeply worried about the safety and treatment of the horses used in these tours. It's essential to consider how we spend our money while on vacation and not support practices that we do not want to encourage. This was one of the highlights from our trip to Costa Rica! I wanted to plan something special for my wife's birthday and Nicole from Pacific Horses made that happen. She helped me plan the trip and gave very detailed driving instruction along with videos to make sure we found the spot OK, she followed up every step of the way. When we arrived Laetitia was there waiting for us with our lovely horses Linda for my wife and Primavera for me. Laetitia was a wonderful, friendly, and informative guide, she helped us get to know our horses and took us on a fantastic tour along the beaches and into the jungle where we were able to see monkeys in trees. The horses were very well cared for and a pleasure to ride. My wife used to own and show horses and she vouched that these animals were very well trained and taken care of. Laetitia took several great photos of us to document this wonderful and scenic tour.
