This place had been recommended by some friends, and it was a hit.
Though it is not located on the waterfront, the food made up for this.
A small appetizer on the house, is brought to you along with your first drinks.
The menu is not too ample, but you find a good selection of ceviches, fish, and beef options.
The staff is very friendly though the kitchen takes a little longer than usual to get your order ready.
I would also like to make note that the restrooms are comfortable and very clean and well kept.
The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are large with left overs to bring home.
I was gladly surprised by Restaurante Don Mario and would recommend it to those looking for good costarrican seafood.

Read moreStop searching and just drive to this amazing restaurant for the best meal of your trip. This is a lovely family restaurant with service and hospitality like no other. Everything was super fresh, cooked to order and plenty of it. The ceviche was the best we have had with big pieces of fish and shrimp and mussels and more. The red snapper was meaty and fried to perfection and lightly brushed with a butter and garlic mixture. The friendliness of the entire staff deserves a 10 star. The outdoor patio is nicely decorated with a great background music. Amazing restaurant. Just heartbroken that we could not eat here again as we were just driving through. Will be...

When we asked how they would suggest it cooked, they said, "with garlic it will be amazing." I grew up eating fish and this was possibly the best I've ever had which is saying quite a lot.
