Stop searching and just drive to this amazing restaurant for the best meal of your trip. This is a lovely family restaurant with service and hospitality like no other. Everything was super fresh, cooked to order and plenty of it. The ceviche was the best we have had with big pieces of fish and shrimp and mussels and more. The red snapper was meaty and fried to perfection and lightly brushed with a butter and garlic mixture. The friendliness of the entire staff deserves a 10 star. The outdoor patio is nicely decorated with a great background music. Amazing restaurant. Just heartbroken that we could not eat here again as we were just driving through. Will be back for sure.

A fantastic lunch stop during our drive from Monteverde to Uvita. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the staff so friendly and welcoming. One in our party has a shrimp allergy and they were happy to accommodate. Cute little patio setup even without a water view. We had the fish ceviche, whole fried red snapper, garlic octopus, medium shrimp in spicy tomato sauce, and fillet (sea bass) in garlic sauce and everything was incredible and generous servings for sharing. Highly recommend and if we're ever in the area again we will be back!

This place had been recommended by some friends, and it was a hit.

Though it is not located on the waterfront, the food made up for this.

A small appetizer on the house, is brought to you along with your first drinks.

The menu is not too ample, but you find a good selection of ceviches, fish, and beef options.

The staff is very friendly though the kitchen takes a little longer than usual to get your order ready.

I would also like to make note that the restrooms are comfortable and very clean and well kept.

The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are large with left overs to bring home.

I was gladly surprised by Restaurante Don Mario and would recommend it to those looking for good costarrican seafood.

Stop by, and visit if you're...

Wow! This place surpassed my expectations. Service was exceptional and the food was just fantastic. Also the presentation was superior.

Before we ordered, they came out and showed us a beautiful red snapper and lobster tails and asked if we wanted it cooked up for two. When we asked how they would suggest it cooked, they said, "with garlic it will be amazing." I grew up eating fish and this was possibly the best I've ever had which is saying quite a lot.

If you have the opportunity, visit this place and ask them what they suggest...
