This is one of my go to spots every time I get back to the country of Costa Rica. His food is authentic and his service is excellent. I have had many interesting experiences through the years coming here. He yelled at a buddy of mine because he took the falafel wrap out of the wrapper and then asked for a fork. I thought it was hilarious and I comprehend the owners sense of humor but I feel it's lost on some. The restaurant has tables inside and around the corner but from first glance it looks like there are only two tables in front. I actually always like to sit there even though it's next to the noisy street. I'm very thankful the restaurant exists where it does because it's surrounded by trash food common in the U.S. maybe you could say it's a diamond in the rough. The falafel wrap is a huge win and his shawarma wraps are also amazing. The mix plate has humus, baba ghanoush, both of his Shawarma options and falafel. It also comes with a delicious salad and some minced garlic sauce that I believe is called Toum. The plate also comes with some pita bread that tastes like he made them himself because I can't find any pita bread in the stores out here that taste like his. The owner is what makes the atmosphere amazing in a place surrounded by fast food and traffic. He even sells his unique and delicious hot sauce which I finally purchased because on other occasions I forgot to ask. I almost forgot, the baklava is also wonderful, thanks to this generous man who keeps tradition alive in a place that...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this review because the owner is a hard-working man who tries to please his customers---yet he talks too much and does not listen well to what we want. The food is fresh, but the cooking process is missing something. The fried chickpee balls are too large, so the interior does not cook well---feel mushy, not firm. Falafel had no creamy sauce. I did not try anything else, so I can't comment. Prices are average or lower. Eating area is small and cozy, but too close to the highly congested street. Too noisy! There are 3 off-street parking spots immediately north of the restaurant, so that is a plus. This little eating joint has been there for years, so the owner/waiter must be doing something right. I wish...
Read moreThis is a for sure hole-in-the-wall type of place, but it’s definitely authentic and delicious. 👌
I had the Turkish coffee, a date cookie, baklava, and the mixed plate. It was all spot on and I was definitely full after.
I would say I preferred the chicken shawarma meat over the beef.
If you like Arabian food I’d definitely recommend trying this place out.
Additionally, there are no bathrooms as far as I could tell but there’s McDonald’s right across the street if...
