And here’s something special — on Saturdays, they open up the parking lot for a local farmer’s market with fresh vegetables, baked goods, and unique specialty items like buffalo cheese and yogurt. What an incredible place to see birds, view the scenery, and enjoy great food! In the time we were there, we saw 31 different bird species including the scarlet macaw and multiple types of toucans! The service was incredible as well, as the owner told us about the history of the area and was very accommodating to our birding. As far as food, we thought the beef and pork were not bad, but we absolutely loved the crispy cheese cubes, coffee, and pico da gallo. What a find! My wife and I enjoyed the meal for two. It was more than enough and a great way to sample a variety of meats and textures. But, nothing beats the sheer beauty of gazing into Lake Arenal and the volcano! There's such a vast, unobstructed vista. I also enjoyed the music playing.
