Al principio, el dueño parecía una persona decente. Aunque la comida era mediocre, en el mejor de los casos, habría pagado con gusto y me habría ido. Estaba muy, muy equivocado con él. Es desagradable y deshonesto. Completamente poco profesional. Le recomiendo evitar este restaurante y, sobre todo, REVISE SU CUENTA.

El problema es que el menú, en cada página, indica que todos los precios incluyen impuestos y cargo por servicio. Cuando recibí la cuenta, se añadió un cargo por servicio. En Costa Rica, a veces, el precio del menú se refleja como un precio más bajo en la cuenta y los impuestos se reflejan por separado. El dueño intentó afirmar que eso fue lo que me ocurrió. No fue así. Sabía que el precio completo estaba reflejado en mi cuenta y le pedí al dueño que trajera el menú, lo que confirmó mi error. Los artículos del menú suman el monto antes del impuesto por servicio.

En lugar de tratar las cosas con profesionalismo, el dueño decidió enojarse y gritarme insultos, llamándome miserable y otras cosas. No le grité antes de que lo hiciera. Subió la tensión e incluso intentó convencer a mi esposa para avergonzarme. No pasa nada, porque en mis fotos se ve toda la información relevante: la gente miente, pero los números no. Lo pillaron, así que, por supuesto, se molestó. Mi esposa también se dio cuenta del error después.

Para que quede claro, no fue un error inocente. Otras reseñas también señalan la adición de un cargo por servicio. En esos casos, el dueño responde y, como todos los dueños de negocios deshonestos, intenta hacerse la víctima. Los dueños siempre dicen lo mismo: Llevamos X años en el negocio y nunca hemos tenido un problema; los clientes nos adoran; bla, bla, bla. También suelen intentar silenciar a la gente alegando que la persona que se queja solo quiere engañar al negocio. No hay problema, repito, ya subí las fotos; no tengo nada que ocultar. En mi caso, luego eliminó el cargo por servicio como si me estuviera haciendo un favor.

En fin, la comida estaba bien, no excelente. Al principio, el dueño nos insistió mucho en comprar sopa. Los tacos de birria casi no tenían carne. Las enchiladas suizas estaban insípidas. Estaba constantemente rondándonos, así que le dijimos que estaba rico para no ofenderlo. No toda la comida es buena. Así es la vida, y desde luego no es algo por lo que enojarse. Pero ser insultado por señalar una práctica comercial deshonesta —una que sin duda les ha costado dinero injustamente a innumerables clientes de restaurantes— vale la pena armar un escándalo.

At first the owner seemed to be a decent guy. Even though the food was mediocre at best, I would’ve happily paid and left. I was very, VERY wrong about him. He is nasty and dishonest. Completely unprofessional. You’d be well advised to avoid this restaurant and, importantly, CHECK YOUR BILL.

Here is the problem. The menu, on every page, states that all menu item prices include the taxes and service charge. When I received the bill, a service charge was added. Sometimes in Costa Rica the menu item price is reflected as a lower price on the check and taxes are reflected separately. The owner tried to claim that that is what occurred in my case. Not so. I knew that the full price was reflected on my check and had the owner bring a menu, which confirmed that I was correct. The menu items add up to the pre service tax amount.

Rather than handle things professionally, the owner chose to get upset and shout insults at me, calling me miserable and other things. I did not shout at him prior to him doing so. He escalated things and even tried to appeal to my wife in an attempt to shame me. That’s fine, because you can see all the relevant information in my photos—people lie, but numbers don’t. He got caught so of course he was upset. My wife noticed the error too afterwards.

To be clear, this was not an innocent error. Other reviews have also pointed the adding of a service charge. In those cases the owner responds, so he knows what he is doing. The food was not...

The owner is extremely unprofessional. He is improperly adding service charges to people's bills. The menu says all taxes and fees are included and he lies and claims that service fees are not included. This was a horrible eating experience for me. I have never experienced such a thing before. The food was not good and looks nothing like the pictures online. I posted pictures of the food the restaurant advertises online and what I received.

The prices are extremely high for the mediocre food this restaurant offers. Receiving the bill also took forever, like 20 minutes. I think many of the good reviews for this restaurant are false. For example, the receipt I received listed Jonathan as the server. Coincidentally I noticed a recent review from "Jonathan", and the review uses a particular word that the server used during our meal "exquisi". It is not a coincidence. Stay away...

I wish I had taken more pictures but I was so engrossed in eating the delicious meal we ordered and my drink! The owner and his son were so friendly and kind! We were a bit of demanding bunch (sorry!) but they were gracious about it all! Coming from Toronto, we have high expectations when it comes to Mexican food but our experience was excellent. The Birria was delicious and served in a cool artsy way! The apps were delicious! The Quesadilla was a bit on the sweeter side according to my MIL but still delicious!
