Second Update: my friend’s two teenage sons love the burgers here so much that we ate here 4 times in 5 days. Today, on the way to the airport, I took them here for lunch. We actually ate at the new place for the first time and the ambiance was very relaxing. I had a bit too much burgers lately, so I opted for a roast beef sandwich from the brunch menu. The jalapeño/cilantro sauce that came with the sandwich was excellent, but the roast beef sandwich itself was just okay, it can’t compare with the burgers. I also tried my daughter’s spicy chicken sandwich and that was excellent. As always, the service was excellent.
I’ve finally tried both the garlic shrimps and spicy shrimps, both were excellent. My family has always wanted me to try them, but I barely can finish my burger and fries. Anyway, highly recommend getting one or both if the shrimps on the menu.
Update: I’ve changed the score to a 5* after getting my take outs from the new place. The hamburger is still amazing, but now we don’t have to deal with the mosquitoes from the creek next to the old place. Staff is still friendly, a well deserved 5*.
We do weekly (sometimes twice a week) takeouts from this place. Both the hamburgers and the fish burgers are very good. The sitting area is very buggy as it is next to the swampy area. The staff is very friendly and prices are reasonable. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are...
Read moreMorning or noon - Barumis is the greatest place to eat in costa rica & have coffee and cake!
Me and my family drove by Barumis resturant on our last trip to Costa Rica. The place is run by the most adorable Israeli couple. We were served with hot falafel balls (Deep fried chickpeas based) and cold lemonade just to start with - both refreshing and tasty!. We then had few Pita breads; one with Sabich (Iraqi pita with eggs, egglant, potato and sauce - great stuff!) And Falafel in Pita - great!
The place serves Israeli food, and as Israelis ourselves we were stunned to find out such excellent Israeli cuisine on the middle of Costa Rica!
We came everyday on our vacation to Barumis and enjoyed their great coffee & cakes and Falafel, Sabich in Pita breads and their Shakshuka (tomato sause with eggs, served with freshly baked bread).
I advise everyone to come to Barumis, not just because of the great food, but also thanks to the resturant's owners big smile, good music and mesmerizing atmosphere. 5...
Read moreGreat place looks from far away, draw our attention and we decided to try it out a new place in avellanas during our yearly visit to Costa Rica; since parking was full to visit our preferred place Waiter was respectful but not really savvy with our 3 year old. It took 3 different to clean our table after a spill accident. One of our party had to eat in a corner of the table while we waited for the table to be fully clean. Despite waiter confirming tuna of quinoa bowl was not from a can, we got disappointed when receiving the dish (see picture) 3 different people took our orders without communicating with each other. For the price we pay; the place was accordingly; but the food and the service were not. Sadly wouldn’t recommend; but who am i am to tell you what to do or where to eat; next time we will stick to what we know (la purruja) and sacrifice a bit walk in the dust to be able to eat according to...
