A Tropical Paradise of Flavors: Tropic Tamarindo Cocktail Restaurant
We recently had the pleasure of experiencing a culinary journey like no other at Tropic Tamarindo Cocktail Restaurant in the heart of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. From the moment we stepped foot inside, I was transported to a world of tantalizing flavors, exceptional service, and an unforgettable, super cool vibe that left us feeling like we're experiencing a cocktail tropical adventure.
Let's start with the service, which was nothing short of amazing. The waitress (from Argentina....I can't recall her name,) at Tropic Tamarindo went above and beyond to ensure that every moment of our dining experience was perfect. From the warm welcome and thoughtful recommendations to the friendly and fun conversation, her passion for providing top-notch service was evident in every interaction. Even when it stated to rain, she quickly moved us over to a covered table.
Now, let's talk about the vibe. Tropic Tamarindo has managed to create an ambiance that is effortlessly cool and inviting. The restaurant's vibrant outdoor decor, with its tropical touches including live plants and laid-back atmosphere, immediately put us in a vacation state of mind. The upbeat music and the laughter of fellow diners added to the energetic and lively atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a memorable evening with friends or a romantic date.
The star of the show at Tropic Tamarindo is undoubtedly their unique custom cocktails. The talented mixologist behind the bar is a true artist, crafting drinks that not only taste incredible but also come with an epic presentation. From smoking and lighted garnishes to creative "glassware" and exotic ingredients, each cocktail was a work of art that delighted both the eyes and the palate. The flavors were a perfect blend of local and international influences, creating a taste sensation that I had never experienced before. Tropic Tamarindo takes cocktail craftsmanship to a whole new level.
But it's not just about the drinks at Tropic Tamarindo; the food is equally outstanding. The menu offers a tantalizing selection of dishes that showcase the rich and diverse flavors of Costa Rican cuisine. From fresh seafood to tender meats and vibrant vegetarian options, every bite was a burst of deliciousness. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation of each dish was impressive, and the use of local ingredients added an authentic touch that truly captured the essence of Costa Rica's culinary heritage.
And let's not forget about the dessert! Tropic Tamarindo has a knack for satisfying every sweet tooth. The dessert menu is limited in scope but no doubt a dream come true for those with a love exotic flavors. Don't miss the opportunity to treat yourself to one of their sweet creations – you won't regret it!

Read moreHubby and I were both dining guests here and also took the cooking/mixology class. Absolutely loved both experience.
About the dining, the most memorable dishes were the fried avocado (lighter and better texture than expected), and the ceviche (the curry sauce on the rice crackers just took it to the next level). I loved sitting in the whimsical outdoor dining area. The plants were all very well cared for and created a wonderful tropical vibe, perfect for its namesake. We had 3 cocktails each, all different ones, and actually could not pick a favorite, because they were all so well balanced. Perhaps the most memorable taste was the hazelnut white sangria. The presentation was top notch and just so fun to see what they will bring out next. Smoke in a cloche? Sparkling steel wool? Hilarious flamingo slipper? They got it all. If you are adventurous and like something off menu, they can do that with no problem.
We got Diego's number at the end of the excellent dinner, and when we found an open afternoon, we just messaged him the day before to schedule our private class. He showed us the different syrups he made, and gave us some background about different liqueurs, then let us try some that he have on hand. Then we got to choose what drink we wanted to make, with some very helpful suggestion from Diego. He also tested and adjusted the drink so what we got were two perfect cocktails per person. Not only that, he helped with the presentation too. We also had cooking lessons from Ignacio, a chef from a local hotel, but no stove involved. We made ceviche (sans that curry sauce) and chifrijo. Everything was cut and prepped already and we really just mixed the ingredients together to our taste, then enjoyed the fruits of our labor with our own cocktails. It was great chatting with Diego and Ignacio throughout the 2 hour lesson and experience, learning about the local food and drink scene. They are so passionate about their mission to elevate local cuisine and staying true to their roots.
100% recommend the class if you like mixology and just having a fun time, or just come here for a good meal in town away from all the tourist traps. Walking over on the beach is a shorter distance than...
Read moreStopped here on our very first night in Tamarindo and have to say... it lives up to the hype! I read so many glowing reviews that I knew I wanted to eat here ASAP and I'm so glad we did. Service was phenomenal, our server (whose name I have forgotten because I'm just terrible with names) was super sweet and very attentive. He told us that his english wasn't the best and that he was practicing it, but we really didn't have much of an issue understanding his explanations of the courses, regardless!
We did the tasting menu, as so many other have recommended. It equates to about $95USD a person and is absolutely worth it. Five (5), technically six (6), courses with two (2) drinks (your pick, wine or cocktails are both included)!? The courses LOOKED small, but we left with incredibly full bellies. Every course was delicious and I'll absolutely be comparing all our future meals here to Tropic. Hoping we'll have an opportunity to stop by again later in the trip to try a few more of the drinks and other items not on the tasting menu!
11/10 on the cocktail presentation. 10/10 on the drinks themselves!
The location is right in the heart of the main streets of Tamarindo, but feels very tucked away and quiet, even when bustling with people. We also absolutely LOVED being visited by the house puppo, who is very sweet and friendly, even when you politely refuse to give him snackies.
Zero complaints, if you're in Tamarindo looking for a delicious meal, you have GOT to...
