Five years have passed, yet the enchanting memories of this extraordinary chicken wing shop in Tamarindo remain etched in my mind. From the moment I stepped foot into this hidden gem, I knew I was in for a treat. Combining mouthwatering wings with an eclectic atmosphere, this place holds a special place in my heart and is still the topic of conversation whenever I recall my Costa Rican adventures.
Firstly, let's talk about the unique decor that added a whimsical touch to the dining experience. The surf board-themed decor instantly transported me to the vibrant coastal culture of Costa Rica. The colorful boards adorning the walls, complemented by stunning beach-themed artwork, created a relaxed and laid-back ambiance. However, what truly stole my heart was the presence of a friendly Weimaraner, adding an extra touch of warmth and character to the establishment. It's not every day you get to enjoy incredible wings while being greeted by a furry friend!
Now, let's get down to the star of the show—the wings themselves. The quality and taste of these wings were simply unparalleled. The moment I took my first bite, I was captivated by the perfect balance of flavors and textures. The wings were cooked to absolute perfection, with a crispy exterior that gave way to succulent, tender meat. Each wing was generously coated in a variety of delectable sauces, ensuring that every bite was an explosion of taste. From tangy barbecue to fiery buffalo, the range of flavors catered to all palates, and each sauce was meticulously crafted to complement the chicken in the most divine manner.
Beyond the extraordinary wings and charming decor, the service provided an additional layer of excellence. The staff members were not only friendly and attentive but also genuinely passionate about the wings they served. Their recommendations and willingness to accommodate individual preferences made the experience all the more enjoyable.
The inviting and relaxed atmosphere of this chicken wing shop made it an ideal spot to unwind and savor the delightful flavors. Whether it was the energetic conversations flowing around the room or the laughter shared among fellow diners, there was a palpable sense of camaraderie. It felt like being part of a close-knit community of wing enthusiasts, united by their love for great food and good times.
Even after all these years, I find myself reminiscing about the exceptional quality of the wings I had the pleasure of savoring at this Costa Rican gem. The Weimaraner and surf board decor added an extra touch of charm and made the experience truly unforgettable. To the owners and staff of this remarkable chicken wing shop, thank you for creating an extraordinary haven where flavor, creativity, and a quirky vibe combine to offer a truly unique dining adventure.

Read moreThe only reason this review is getting a 2/5 is because the chef herself deserves a 12/10 as she was not only the only person cooking the food (which we thought was unreal), but she also came out to assist in cleaning up all the tables. She’s a rockstar. I will say, we were warned upon coming in that there was only 1 cook on duty, but the frustration comes in that it was a Saturday night (which from what I’ve read is the busiest day/night of the week - no kidding), I tried ordering a simple glass of wine (somehow unavailable), then a margarita (also unavailable), and could only get a beer. There were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant, all of which had ordered quite a while ago as food was on their tables and being made/coming out, so, we were the only table the waitress had to deal with. We ordered 2 beers and 2 burgers. Easy? Yes. One burger with a side of fries was delivered and she realized she forgot to put in the order for the other burger. I get we’re human and make mistakes, but when you only have one table to really deal with, it’s not that hard to put in that simple order…we were the charged full price for our meal, no accommodations or charges waived which was honestly very frustrating. Very disappointed as this was very high on the list of spots to visit while in Tamarindo. Also, no effort was made to play any music or provide any sort of good atmosphere - this may sound odd, but again, on a Saturday night to have it be crickets in a restaurant with music blaring all around the...
Read moreIf you're looking for a great American burger, you gotta check out Surf Shack. We had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a strawberry shake. Quality ingredients; starting with a great bun any baker would endorse. The beef patty is all-American in taste. It was cooked perfectly with a good sear on the outside and tender inside with no filler. The veggies were fresh and served beside the burger so you could decide your own portions. A generous portion of crispy fries (not oily), did not leave me wanting more. And finally, the bacon was cooked perfectly. Not over or under done. (Keep in mind, I'm also of the belief that bacon should be declared as its own essential food group. So my objectivity on it is questionable ). Finally, the shake get's a special honour. A ton of ice cream was used in the making of this shake and the ice cream quality was as good as I've ever had. Rounded off with American pop music playing, TV's showing multiple sports and decorated with license plates, who knew you had to travel CR to enjoy a great burger. Guy Fierri would be proud. PS Sorry I forgot the photo shoot before I...
