​Batak Savica — Restaurant in City of Zagreb

====FOR MEAT LOVERS==== In Zagreb there are lot of BBQ restaurants located out of downtown, away from hungry tourists eyes and mouths, where locals meet and eat in a cozy atmosphere. If you think the best ones which can city offer must be situated in downtown, in strong city center, places like Batak grill will make you to think again. Even tough they have one in downtown (Cvjetni), they have also 5 other restaurants in Kvatric, Tresnjevka, Rudes, Savica and Jarun lake districts. I visited one of them located in Lastovska 11 in Savica district , and I was pleasantly surprised with service, quality of food and ambiance. I ordered popular dish "Vješalica u kajmaku" which I would describe as pork loin stuffed with ham and cheese, dipped into sour cream. It was very tasteful, thermically well grilled. My friend took another popular dish "Uštipci", which are really meatballs made of grounded meat. Also delicious. As a side dish we took baked fresh potatoes, and even those were good, I would rather see a normal seasonal baked potatoes then the ones unfrozen and fried. Nowadays you can buy 1kg of potatoes for only 20 eurocents, so I think It should be on the Menu. But regardless this mine minor wish to see normal regular potatoes on the Menu for the price of 14 kunas (less then 2 euros), I still give them 5 out of 5, service was excellent, ambient is easygoing and price is affordable even for normal...

Disclaimer: Batak Grill restaurants are usually very very good here in Zagreb and I would always recommend them! But I believe that this one in particular didn’t standout or I was not lucky!

First, the service was meh at best! I ordered a Barbecue ribs and unfortunately it was terrible, there were like 20% of meat and the rest was fat. And the best part was, I tried to explain that to one of the staff and he was like « OK », it is was it is.

Second, the toilet. It’s probably the most dirtiest restaurant toilet I have been in a while. And I didn’t expect that from Batak grill!

However, as I said maybe it was just a bad day or bad luck and I will always recommend Batak grills restaurant because I have been in other few batak places and the food, staff, service was...

We were a party of ~15 and we had the meat platters. Every single piece of food was tasting really good. Excellent cooking, excellent service, a nice wine selection. I can't seem to catch them on their "low day" as every time I've been to a Batak restaurant, they seemed to be almost completely full and the food was always perfect. On a side note, some of the staff seemed to be a bit nervous and unwilling to help us, I assume it was because we weren't "their table" which was quite unpleasant, hence the 4 stars. Other than that, keep up the good work and I might just change my rating...
