Bistro Melin — Restaurant in Grad Cres

We stopped by for dinner right after arriving to Cres. We called the restaurant in advance for reservations. They are multi-lingual (Italian, Croatian, German and English). The staff is friendly and professional at the same time. The owner showed us the kitchen and told the story of the family owned restaurant (all the staff was family). Our fish soup and scampi experience was so good that we came back the next day for a lunch. The scampi was very fresh, the owner showed them before grilling. You cannot go wrong from the menu, but I really recommend trying the scampi. I had it for the first time and the owner kindly explained how to eat properly....

When we arrived we just had to look at it a bit. We came from the harbour, where it was full of life, so we were a little skeptical about the location - good thing we trusted our gut feeling. The waiter is great. Discreet but informative. Speaks good English and is extremely welcoming. We ordered squid, the fish plate for two, risotto with squid, salad, two large beers and a couple of soft drinks for the children. Water ad libitum and sundries from the house. it tasted heavenly. Thank you for a great evening - we will definitely be back. 5/5 stars from here - the bill was extremely reasonable by the way - you can safely say...

Dico subito che sono italiano. Sono stato in questo risotorante in estate. Fanno accomodare in un spazio all aperto molto carino , ed accogliente con attorno alberi e piante di viti. Il sevizio è molto veloce e preciso, veramente vanno come delle saette. Per il cibo mi aspettavo di più.. le tre stelle che ho dato possono sembrare poche ma penso che siano giuste considerando anche il prezzo. Come primo ho ordinato spaghetti ai frutti di mare che veramente se il risotorante fosse stato in Italia probabilmente non li avrebbero mai inseriti nel menù.... Non perché non fossero mangiabili ma in quanto bontà lasciava proprio a desiderare... Il sugo di pesce era stato messo lì senza essere amalgamato con la pasta, il pesce messo era di bassa qualità, pasta scottisima, super pepato. Tutto era di un colore nerognolo che non faceva presagire nulla di eccezionale. Comuqne la porzione di pasta era abbondate. Poi di secondo abbiamo preso il kg di pesce per 2. Allora questo a differenza del primo era veramente buono. Per l' esattezza il piatto era composto da un branzino un orata, due calamaretti minuscoli, due scampi e due pescetti che non mi ricordo.. tutto con un po' di contorno. Tutto alla griglia. Il piatto era molto buono ma sicemrate era a mio avviso troppo costoso. ( Anche se a cres comunque siamo pur sempre in Croazia, quelli nel menù sono prezzi "italiani" ) la grigliata di pesce costava 280 kune, e per di più non troppo abbondante per quel prezzo, aggiungere qualche gamberetto, qualche calamaro in più non avrebbe guastato. Il mio primo l ho pagato 75 kune. Vino da mezzo litro 50 kune . I primi costano mediamente 70 kune. Calamari fritti/grigliati 100 kune. Ho visto dei piatti nel menù da 600 kune allucinante. 1 kg di scampi 400 kune. In definitiva questo ritornate è stata per me una mezza delusione... Non so come faccia ad avere una media così alta.. forse noi italiani siamo abituati...
