Bistro Yacht club — Restaurant in Grad Opatija

When we came into the restaurant we met one waitress who was very unpleasant. We asked her if we can have table on the terrace even though we had reservation inside. She answered that they have free tables but we can not have one because we have reservation inside. (Tables outsite were not reserved..)

Luckily inside we got more nice waitress. We ordered local wine, as appetizer tuna carpacio and as main dish “high quality fish” and “squid”. Wine was good, but as apetizer waitress brought frozen fish which was absolutely not eatable. (Very “funny” was that waitress knew that the fish was frozen and she advise us to wait 10-15 minutes until ice inside the fish melts..) we should have left at this point but we were very hungry and still restaurant had 4.6 stars, so we agreed that we want to change our order. On second try we got octopus salad, which was “not great, not terrible”. But the worst has not come yet.. as main dish we got “high quality fish” with potatos… it was more like “medium quality fish with one potato”. Then we got burned squid with burned vegetables. I have to admit that we both tasted and we both got sick later that day..

On the end it was terrible experience for really premium price. I DO...

We arrived and asked if there was room for two, for dinner and drinks. They quickly sat us down and that was the end of it.

I try to flag down a server after patiently waiting for 15-20mins and they deliberately decided to look the other way. I then got up and went inside to seek for someone for assistance and the first person I saw was a chef. And I asked him "Hey brother, do you think you can see if you can help get someone over to the table?" And he responded by showing his work clothes, and saying "I can not help you with anything, I have nothing to do with the servers." Then he proceeded down stairs. I was in awe.

I went back to get my wife and told her let's go elsewhere. As we were walking out, the hostess that was quick to seat us said "Thank you, have a nice night." I responded with "No waiters approached us or ever asked for an order." She then just lifted her hands in the air with no apology or any attempt to make things right and let us walk out.

I am a Croatian, who is in disbelief that they treated one of their own like this, and embarrassed by how they may have treated a tourist who came there to spend their hard...
