Asterix — Restaurant in Grad Pula

We wanted to have pizza without the need to circle for parking around the downtown. Pizzeria Asterix is a perfect spot. Great pizza, great location! I had medium Monte Carlo pizza (tomato base, cheese, ham, bacon-felt very Canadian about it, mushrooms and egg), wife ordered small Tartufata (tomato base, truffles, cherry tomatoes, bugiola, arugola, ricotta). The medium pizza was large enough to overstuff myself. Next time I may order a small one. Both pizzas were delicious, dough was perfect - thin in the middle and spongy at the edges. Toppings were plentiful, more than we get on an average pizza. The service was friendly, with a smile, price was on the lower side, especially comparing to pizzerias in the downtown. Peeking impolitely at the guests at the next table, we watched them order four large pizzas and watch open-mouthed as they arrived, on plates with the diameter of a truck wheel. I think each pizza of that size can easily feed 3, maybe even 4. We didn't stay long enough to see if they managed to finish what they ordered, but really doubt they could. This was one of the best, if not the best pizzas I've ever had. We ate the kitchen's speciality. There are 3 sizes of pizzas all at a reasonable price. The place is a bit crowded between 20.00 and 21.00 so I recommend to make a reservation. The service was also very good. I had to add this story to this post: there was a man with his son waiting for a free table. Despite there was one free table the son only wanted to sit where we sat (typical story where the tail wiggles the dog...) . We overheard the conversation and told the waitress that if she wants, and if it helps, we can skip tables. We did so. The son with the father didn't even say a silent thank you... The waitress was very very kind as we found out that two of our drinks stayed on the house. I want to add that we didn't skip tables in hope of anything, however, we are very grateful for...

Visited the place because of the very good reviews. Can't give any review for the quality of food because we left after really waiting too long, had even the impression of being ignored. Then the waitress came and she was absolutely unfriendly, again giving us the feeling of not being welcome. We travel very frequently, been around in the mediteranian countries like Italy (lived there 4 years), Spain, Greece, Turkey and this is the 3rd stay in Croatia. I speak 5 languages, and I always behave as a guest... Something like that never happened to me. And this is my very first time I have to do a such bad review, 1 star even is too much. So better they change attitude and read some book about service...
