Trattoria Vodnjanka — Restaurant in Grad Pula

I trusted the 4,8 rating this place had on Google, so I accepted to pay the really high price of their dinner tasting menu, hoping it would be exquisite. And let me say that this is the price I paid in Michelin restaurants in Gran Canaria for dinner, and there everything was perfect. Here, so and so. We chose one fish menu and one meat menu. The starters for the fish menu, except for the fish pate, were low quality canned supermarket fish (canned tuna etc). The main dish for the meat menu was unbalanced flavour-wise and too salty. The pasta had a nice flavour, but the local one was uncooked in the middle, not too much, but still. The rest of the food was good. The wine list was very good. I cannot say about the atmosphere, as I was seated in an empty dining room. But the place looked nice and traditional. But I fail to see which the overpriced and imperfect for that price tag...

Came across this restaurant on searching top-rated/authentic/meat-seafood restaurant. It doesn't disappoint. Staffs are welcoming, speak good english and ordering is straightforward upon recommendation. The squid dish is interesting as its full of crunch, because of mixing in the squid spines, and fried anchovies. Clams and mussels are of standard taste, perhaps I'm so used to the French style buttery sauce. The veal is soft and tender. The highlight is actually the ricotta cheesecake, the base is made of nuts rather than biscuit. There are good selection of Croatian wines. Portion size wise is more of the upscale/fine dining size. Very unpleasant experience. We reserved a table at 14.00 and we showed up at 14.15. The waiter "welcomed" us, saying "your table was at 14 and now it's 14.15". I thought he was joking and I said "Is it a problem?'. He rudely replied "yes". After consulting the owner he let us in, specifying that we should eat fast. The owner asked us what we wanted right away, even before we had sat down. We both ordered a starter and a main dish, but he forgot my soup. At the end, we had one and a half meal. The food was good (as far I can tell), but the atmosphere was very unpleasant and unwelcoming. I'll never go...
