Terrible and utterly dissapointing experience Sunday evening I came home from the trip hungry. The fridge didn't offer much of a choice, and in that particular moment, the choice of delivered food was not rich either. I had never eaten at Soprano before, and the above-average prices suggested likely above-average quality, so the decision fell on the pork loin skewers and baked beans. Forty minutes and a whole 28 euros later (not including the delivery cost), I received a basic small plastic bag from a delivery guy, all wet inside, with two aluminum containers, which, in addition to the rather small weight of the bag, already indicated disappointment. Which is an understatement for what followed. The first container was barely half full of what looked like a bad, pale bean stew from some worst canteen, and it smelled strongly and tasted only of garlic. Calling it baked beans and selling it to someone for €8.90 and thinking it's perfectly fine is pure rudeness. Another small aluminum container was hiding two undersized on a bed of freshly steamed and wilted mixed salad that was not mentioned anywhere in the description of the dish, and served here solely to fill the space due to the modest size of the skewers themselves. The good taste and texture of the skewers themselves were completely overshadowed by their poor presentation and all the other shortcomings mentioned. And above all, also overshadowed by the outrageously high price of €18.90 for those two small skewers. I felt like a real fool for falling for this scam of a restaurant, because for €28 you don't necessarily expect larger portions, but above all you do expect high quality (the beans were inedible – rated: ZERO), and attention to detail in the presentation and packaging of the food . The conclusion is that the owners of this restaurant consider their guests to be sheep for shearing and real fools, as soon as they dare to deliver such a carelessly prepared and really bad dish. Well, it was my first time, and more than enough to...
Read moreThroughout my 6 & 1/2 years of living and working across various European cities (incl. Vienna,Berlin, Prague, Budapest, Brussels, Warsaw, Krakow, Napoli, Rome etc), trust me when I assert that I've dined in a fair share of good restaurants (from high-end to moderate ones). As a friendly disclaimer, I do not claim to be a food critic of any sort, no, far from it (p.s: funny enough, this is my first ever Google review -- thus, testament to how much I loved the experience).
That said, Konoba Soprano is, by a country mile, the best restaurant to have given me the exact value for the money I spent. It easily tops my list of the best restaurants I've eaten from in Europe. The whole experience was one to savour and thoroughly appreciate.
To begin with, the general ambiance was chill and soothing enough to host different group sizes or an individual/couple. The general staff and waiters were very polite and responsive. And most importantly, the food. Gosh! I dreamt of the lamb I had for 3 straight days. The resoto was extremely tasty too. Not to talk of their freshly baked bread. I could easily go in-depth with this review but I'll summarise by saying --- whenever you're in Pula, Croatia, do not hesitate to add Konoba to your must visits for a tasty meal at an...
Read moreOne of the BEST restaurants IN Pula!!!!!!!!!! At the beginning of June, on the recommendation of older friends, I came here for breakfast, which was served from 9-12, which was very tasty and very plentiful. Attached pictures ✅ delighted with this food, I decided to come back. Yesterday we also visited this tavern, but we opted for Carpaćo, and cheese which was delicious. For the main course, we took roast ( pork on grill ) and potatoes, where I can only praise the person who baked them. Very tasty!! The pizza was also very good. Pasta is perfect! waitresses are helpful and kind! and let me mention that the panna cotta cake was the most perfect homemade dessert ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ !!!!!! I recommend this tavern with 5 stars!! See you...
