Restaurant Obala — Restaurant in Jelsa

Very bad service. I asked them do they have pizza, waiter said yes. We ordered pizza for older son and wanted pancakes for younger son, but waiter said it's not possible to make them at that moment. We also wanted ice cream. After few minutes, another waiter (probably owner) came and said that chef doesn't want to make one pizza!?! I asked what is a reason, but he repeated that chef doesn't want to make one pizza. It was very strange to me and we left. Maybe it happened when they recognized my language, actually I am pretty sure.

Added answer to owner's answer: You wrote several lies. First lie is that your restaurant was full. It wasn't. Four tables were free behind ice cream refrigerator. Second lie is that you are 5 star restaurant. If that is true, you wouldn't serve pizza and your service would be good. Everybody who comes to your restaurant can see that it's not five star restaurant. Third lie: as I wrote, we wanted also pancakes, which you didn't want to make, and ice cream. Fourth lie: there were for of us, two adults and two small kids, not five. I am glad that the reason of your very bad service isn't my language, but the fact you are not good host. If you consider guests like this, then you should put a sign on entry or write in menu that you don't serve if order is less then, for your taste appropriate amount. My order would be approximately 150 kuna (20 Euros). If that is not good for you to have guests 20 minutes for that amount, then you prove that you are very bad host. I am not a person who has to be ashamed, you are. I was very polite every moment, but you weren't. I didn't have such experience nowhere in Croatia. Good luck. We saw this restaurant while taking a walk, the menu is huge so we decided to take a seat. We had the mozzarela bruschette for appetizers and the meat sharing platter for two persons as the main dish. The food was amazing! With the excellent food we took a bottle of Pošip (we wanted the Beleca but unfortunately they did not have it) and we were just amazed with the fantastic presentation of the wine which was done with such passion like a small play, you rarely see this kind of professionalism in a Bistro! Food was average at best, prawn risotto is clearly made of supermarket frozen prawns and cooking cream and is pretty tasteless and required extra salt and pepper.

We also ordered (and were charged) truffle prawn tagliatelle, but actually received prawn spinach tagliatelle which is 2 eur cheaper. It was also just average based on cooking cream and spiceless.

Bruschetta were very simple but tasty.

Portion size is good and prices are reasonable for current circumstances even though we did expect higher quality of food based on other reviews.
