Horrible experience. Staff was rude and treated us like second rate customers. Food was nothing special. Restaurant is expensive, even to Dutch standards. Especially taking into account what you get in return. My advice: stay away. Don't be tempted by the appearance of the place.
A meat dish costs 150 kn, but you need to pay extra 25 kn for a side dish and an additional 15 kn for sauce with your meat. This gave me a McDonald's/snackbar feeling. There was no coherence or vision.
I ordered grilled lamb with fried potatoes, but the waiter said they only had slow roasted lamb with mashed potatoes, when the menu gave 3 options. (?) Dissapointing and weird that you have to go into discussion with the waiter about which side dish you want to eat and pay for. The food looked really plain with no sauce or garnish or anything. It did not feel worth the money. The meat was tender, which was good, but the flavour was bland.
We received some really salty bread as an appetizer. The waiter recommended using oil and salt or pepper with the bread, but salt and pepper were not on our table. Nor did we get a plate to put oil on.
When I finished my drink, I was never asked if I wanted a refill, when we were there for over an hour. I also never got the chance to order one, because the waiter never came by.
When we finished our meal, we were completely ignored. Multiple waiters passed us by at least 15 times, but no one took away our plates, asked how the food was or asked if we wanted something else. In the meantime I saw the waiters cater to many other customers, pouring drinks and removing their plates. I felt we had done nothing to deserve this treatment. In the end, finally someone came to remove our plates in silence and then we were ignored again. Amazing really. For such an expensive restaurant that puts so much effort into visual experience I really expected way better service.
After having to direct a waiter to our table to ask for the bill, I saw the waiter walk out and serve other customers at least 5 times before I received the bill. After paying in cash, it became clear the waiter had no intention of coming back with my change. I had to ask another waiter if I could get my change back. Due to his lack of understanding English, I had to explain it 3 times. He apologized and said he would inform his colleague. After a while his colleague came with the change, obviously displeased. By then I had no intention anymore to give a tip.
During the stay, no one took the opportunity to thank us for our visit or to wish us a pleasant evening. The staff became more rude the longer the evening went on. I believe it is really bad service to ignore customers, no matter how big or small their meal is. The Sheraton hotel accross the street shows what real service is, with their continued show of gratitude and attentiveness. We even received much better service at the TuttoBene 100m further. This meal left a really bad aftertaste. My advice would be to...
Read moreFirstly can I say that as a rule I dont usually give out bad reviews to restaurants as i give them the benefit of doubt , We were staying locally and passed the Ruzmarin heading to the ferries or beaches and liked the look of the place , always busy so decided to go on our last Friday. First big red warning sign was when the girl on the counter took us to our table but she never left any menus from the big stack at her cubicle ,we waited a few minutes until i realised she wasnt coming back so I flagged down another member of staff who retrieved a menu. Next warning sign was when the young girl came over with complimentary olive oil and bread took our drinks orders and then disappeared for 15 mins , again had to flag down another staff member to get our drinks. We had ordered food from the drinks server and this appeared quite quickly but none of the plates from the appetiser had ben cleared away so we had the sight of our food been placed on another familys table while they whisked away our plates. Now the food was excellent absolutely no complaints but then came the wait for any kind of additional service ie another drinks round / or desserts , when we realised we were getting ignored I had eventually had had enough after 45 mins and went into the bar area to get and pay the bill , my comments had caused the duty manager to be summoned and when I went over my complaints he apologised profusley but didnt offer any financial reparation for what was our worst dining experience in Croatia. Everywhere else we had been in Dubrovnik and Srebreno the service was excellent until the Ruzmarin which is a pity as the food was good but if youre sitting in the corner under the tree be prepared for...
Read moreRACISM ALERT!!!! It was my birthday dinner that night, me and my gf walked in, we didn't have a reservation because we came in town late from Dubrovnik aprox around 10:30pm. Live music was playing and the restaurant was half empty, so we went ahead to sit on a table since there was no host. Suddenly a waiter aproached us saying that the restaurant was about to close (despite the closing time was 1:00am), but that he will ask the manager if they still can serve us, in the meantime another waiter aproached, he was acting suspiscious. Both of them were speaking in Croatian to each other. Again they told us to wait. We were about to leave when at the entrance we noticed a waiter's gathering including their manager. The manager, this woman in a white dress started slowly walking towards us like on a parade. I was relieved once she told us that we can have a seat. She led us to our table, that was in a corner surrounded by a gridlike fence and bushes. We had already placed our order when we noticed other people (mostly couples like us) walking in with no trouble and sitting in the front area, also they started serving clients food and drinks without notifying them that the restaurant was about to close like they did with us. It was in this time that all the events added up to us, we realized that the only difference we as a couple had from others was being an interracial one (yes, my gf is african). This racist event marked our trip to Croatia, my birthday dinner and all the next days we spent in Srebreno were horrible except one thing. The delicious food in the restaurant next to this one called...
