Marisquería Laurent — Restaurant in Cárdenas

I was read about the place and honestly I know how the prices are in Cuba. I never expect to much from the restaurants in cuba. There are many reason for that like ambargo, they cant get everything they want to serve in restaurant and many other things. So when I was decide to go there I was expecting we are gonna spend around 100 usd. The place has a good view and you have many options for food. We did order 5 dishes. One starter vegetable, and one small rise with black bean. Then later we got seven dishes. We refuse it because we were not ordering 7 dishes. The waiter told us that we did order all 7 dishes. Again 7 main dishes for 5 people 🤐. Lets say we did miss order. All 5 of us did miss order? At least if she could say if we are sure about 7 dishes. She never ask to us. We knew we didn’t order it. But we did not want make troubles for the waiter. If we had probably it would be counted from her salary. And in cuba as you know the salary is very low. It was clearly her mistake. The best is in the end. They could be a bit humble and at least say “we are sorry there is a missunderstanding. We again would pay all dishes for the reason to not be counted from the waiters salary. -They did wrong and they said we were wrong. -we were order, 2 grilled fish, 1 grilled octopus, 2 sirloin they said we don’t have grilled fish but we have fried fish. But octopus and sirloin can be grilled. So IF YOU HAVE FISH AND AND A BARBEQUE WHY CANT YOU GRILL THE FISH, BUT YOU CAN GRILL OCTAPUA OR SIRLOIN. The only reason because the fish was stale. If you fried stale food the clients wont understand the fish was stale. -the only good thing here is the view and the vegetable plate. Which was small and 24 usd. Still to expensive. In the end we had to oay for 7 dishes (2 of them were not our order) 10 drinks and a starter 270 usd. We are since 3 days in varadero. On our last dinner at the Marisqueria Laurent we did pay much more then all three day (breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks drinks) Avoid this place. A very...

This restaurant is an oasis in a desert of overcooked and nearly inedible food served at most resorts in Varadero.

What a pleasant surprise to find a restaurant that serves food made with taste buds in mind, where dishes served had flavour and with decent presentation.

The mixed drinks are tasty without overdoing with excessive amounts of alcohol.

The decor has a clean and contemporary nautical theme.

Service is always with a smile and clear as to what you are ordering and how much you are paying. The bill arrives with a printout in multiple currencies, so there’s no mistake to the exchange rate.

The food and service was so pleasant that my family returned to this restaurant three times.

Place has a beautiful view of the beach. However the service is bad. We also run into issues with our drinks where one of my friends spat out a caterpillar, from his lemonade. any other place would have immediately removed the drink from the bill but not here. I still ended up paying the full bill. The cook was awesome and the paella he made was pretty good. But honestly for how expensive everything is and they only do their menus in USD to take advantage of the volatile Cuban currency. I was expecting a lot better, specially for the prices you pay. Never going back to this spot there are much better and more affordable options...
