On arrival we were greeted by the owner who then showed us the BBQ with skewered pork and chicken cooking and it looked amazing. He treated us like old friends even though we had not been before. He explained the menu to us and we went for the Meze.... We had homemade pitta bread arrive almost immediately and then a huge salad bowl, dips, olives, marinated carrot, and chillies ( hot!!!) grilled halloumi, chorizo sausages, pork slices in coriander, followed by beef cooked in wine ( which was so tender) vegetables in a gravy, lambsliver in gravy 😋. Then couscous in a tomato sauce with meatballs, then a traditional vegetable sausage ( that I can't remember the name of!!!) Followed by BBQ pork and chicken with fresh parsley, peppers and onion!!!! Must not forget the chips made with Cyprus herb coated potatoes which were the best chips I have ever tasted!!! The whole experience was excellent the owners were very friendly and with great explanation of the food without being intrusive. The owner and his wife take great pride in their Restaurant and the food that is provided and they really want you to enjoy it!!! We had a fabulous time, thank you so much and look forward to visiting...
Read moreI have been to dozens of restaurants all around the globe, and I have to say it is HARD to beat the toasted bread with homemade olive oil and wild oregano here – this shockingly simple appetizer left my tastebuds dancing! Everything else is delicious as well, especially the traditional Cypriot sheftalia and the moussaka, which was the first moussaka I ever ate that I liked. If you happen to be there on a Friday, be sure to get some fresh seafood – we had the oysters and sea bass and they were so fresh you could just taste the sea... And if you happen to be there at sunset, the view is lovely, too. Perhaps best of all, Melania is a family-run business that takes great pride in their work, and the absolutely charming owner/waiter/chef is always happy to tell you about the origins of each dish, as well as different fun facts about the island and culture. I think the best summary is: we ate there every evening for almost a week, and we loved it just as much every single time! Till we meet...
Read moreVery disappointed!! Have no idea how this place has achieved its 4.6 rating!! Service was appalling! We asked if there was a Mezè available & the abrupt response was “it’s Friday not Thursday, we only do mezè on Thursdays”….. After placing our order from a very limited menu drinks were ordered, 1/2ltr carafe white wine (€14) & 500ml plastic bottled water (€4). Our shared Village salad (€15) was obviously made the day before as was limp, uninteresting & minimal feta!! The mains…..Mousaka + Whole squid. Mousaka was left half eaten, Lidls would’ve been better. The squid was really awful. Fried in what tasted like old, rancid cooking oil!! Served with I slice of carrot. I had to ask for lemon, then begrudgingly was given slices of lime after wandering about looking for the server!! Overcooked & chewy as!! Local cats that were around the restaurant were very happy!! The bill came to €73!! Avoid this restaurant & go to The Fat Fig, complete opposite of this establishment & just 2km...
