Venus Beach is probably the best of the beaches in and around the central Paphos area - especially if you have children. The other "beaches" around the main harbour and south are small and really just rocky outcrops with a sprinkling of sand - and dominated by mega hotels. Venus beach is next to the Tombs of the Kings site and is a short bus ride from the main harbour - the 615 bus will take you there and it stops right outside Lidl. There's a large free gravel car park and a basic area with open air showers and taps to wash off any sand. The beach itself has both open areas of natural sand and a large number of sunbeds that can be rented with hospitality services available (I believe from the Venus Beach Hotel). It also links to the coastal pathway that follows the coast back to Paphos Harbour. Around 9am is probably the best time to arrive as by 11am it can feel a bit crowded. Weekends also tend to be very crowded as many locals also use this beach. The water is generally clear and quite calm and there are no hidden rocks as with some of the other beaches. The swimming area is protected by several artificial reefs/breakwaters which makes swimming very safe and protects from the notoriously rough seas and strong riptides which Cyprus is well known for - as evidenced by the shipwreck you can see about 1km away. There is usually a lifeguard on...

A Hidden Gem in Paphos ...Absolutely Love It. This beach has become my daily escape.Just 5 minutes from Paphos centre, under new management, and hands down the most beautiful beach in town, maybe even the whole district. The beach is golden and sandy, the water crystal clear, and everything is incredibly well organized. The sunbeds are super comfortable, and if you forget your towel, don’t worry ... you can rent a huge, soft one (I ended up buying mine, it’s that good!). The food is absolutely delicious and the cocktails are so refreshing. Whether I come alone for a morning coffee, for drinks with friends, or a relaxed meal with my family, the experience is always top-notch. They offer everything ...quality coffee, fresh juice, cold beer, colorful cocktails, salads, and proper meals. Service is impressively fast and always with a smile. I also love the vibe ... chill out music playing, clean facilities, and a spacious parking area. After my morning run along the beautiful, long pavement right next to the beach, I can shower for free just 20 meters from Venus Bleu Beach, and they even have clean toilets available. This place truly has it all...comfort, beauty, great food, amazing staff, and a super relaxing atmosphere. I'm really excited about this spot...it's my daily go-to and I highly recommend...

Perfect for a sea swim along this strip of coast. Sandy and easy to get in, as rock wave- breakers have been constructed a little further out, so you're not knocked off your feet or clambering over jagged lumps of sandstone to get to the water's edge. Water was crystal clear when I visited, little shoals of fish here and there. It does get shoulder-deep quickly and then you're out of depth, so probably best for competent swimmers. OK along the edge for paddlers/kiddies though. There are sunbeds and shades set out in regimented rows in the central area of the beach, which I think you can rent for the day, but I sat on the sand at the far end of the beach and enjoyed some glorious peace and quiet. Excellent place to enjoy the sunset too. Accessible via the long recently installedEU/Cypriot government boardwalk project that runs all the way down to the harbour and has plenty of shady seated rest stops and a few snack shack outlets. It's being landscaped too - lots of planting in evidence, exercise areas and viewpoints, so it can only get even...
