During our recent visit to Oniro By The Sea, we had a pleasant dining experience that showcased the restaurant's strengths. Although there were a few minor shortcomings, overall, we enjoyed our time at this beautiful establishment.
First and foremost, the food at Oniro By The Sea was delightful. The menu offered a diverse selection of dishes that catered to a variety of tastes. The flavours were well-balanced, and the presentation was impressive. Each dish we tried was prepared with care and showcased the chef's skill and attention to detail. From the appetizers to the main courses and desserts, the quality of the food was consistently high.
One of the standout aspects of this restaurant was its fantastic location. Situated in a prime spot, Oniro By The Sea provided breathtaking views, especially during sunset. The combination of the picturesque surroundings and the well-designed outdoor seating area created a truly memorable dining experience. It was a joy to soak in the beauty of the sea and enjoy our meal simultaneously.
While the location provided stunning views, it was worth mentioning that it was a bit windy during our visit. Although this did not significantly affect our overall enjoyment, it may be something to keep in mind for individuals who are sensitive to windy conditions.
We informed the restaurant in advance that we were celebrating our anniversary and had hoped for some thoughtful decorations on the table. Unfortunately, our expectations were not met in this regard. Despite this small disappointment, we did appreciate the gesture of a candle on our dessert. However, we had expected a little more personalization, such as a "happy anniversary" message written with the sauce or a small touch that would have made the experience more special.
Aside from the minor letdown with the anniversary decorations, our visit to Oniro By The Sea was a pleasant one. The ambience, coupled with the delectable food, created a memorable dining experience. We left feeling satisfied with our meal and grateful for the stunning views and the opportunity to witness a beautiful sunset.
In conclusion, Oniro By The Sea offers a delightful dining experience with its delicious food and stunning location. The cuisine is expertly prepared and presents a wide range of flavours to satisfy various palates. The restaurant's prime position allows guests to enjoy magnificent sunset views, adding an extra touch of magic to their dining experience. While it was a bit windy during our visit and the anniversary decorations fell short of our expectations, the overall experience was still enjoyable. We would recommend Oniro By The Sea to those seeking a memorable dining...
Read moreWe’ve been going to Oniros as a family for over 15 years and have seen it grow from the beachside bar that was a gem of a place with amazing cocktails to the modern, sleek and trendy establishment it is now. We decided to go for dinner as it has become a staple in our yearly holidays to Cyprus.
Food - We ordered the burger and a flatbread which were reasonably well cooked and presented well. We decided to have a desert each which unfortunately was not to the same standard - the chocolate choux was relatively tasteless and the hazelnut meringue was bland. A disappointing end to the meal.
Atmosphere - the developments over the year make Oniros a very pleasant setting to be and this is never in question. However, there probably needs to be consideration between those sitting for drinks (and smoking) versus those having a full meal. Sadly we were sat next to the bank of tables used for drinks and smoking clients. Ultimately this isn’t a dealbreaker but there is probably a smarter way to seat this type of customer away from those having a meal to respect both sets of what customers want.
Price - Oniros is undoubtedly significantly more costly than its competition elsewhere within the local area. Some of which is fair (the cocktails are delicious) but some of it is hugely inflated with little to show for it (a glass of Cypriot red wine is €9 for example and not any better quality than what you would get from any of the other local restaurants / tavernas nearby). However the biggest critique of their pricing came when we asked for our ice cream flavour to be changed (to vanilla) rather than the default coconut & espresso flavours with our ordered deserts. The result, an additional €5 added to our bill on top of the already ~€25 the deserts already cost. Ultimately you are paying more for the overall experience / vibe but some of the costs have crossed into unreasonable territory in our opinion.
Overall - Oniros is unique due to its setting, atmosphere and aspects of the offering it has (especially cocktails). However its food and pricing simply don’t stack up in our opinion. We have long been customers of theirs but feel we will now limit that to drinks and go and have better quality and more reasonably priced...
Read moreA very good venue which fails to deliver on a human level. This visit was my fifth and first one on this visit to Peyia. So disappointed by the corporate nature of the staff. Location is excellent however the balance between the customer and the staff has changed. I went with a friend who's been visiting this area for over 14 years. During our previous visits the welcome, quality of food and drink and overall ambience was 5 stars so not surprised by the good reviews. There was a family birthday celebration going on on a table, they all looked like they were having a good time so it's potentially a very good venue for special occasions and people can go there dressed for that special and memorable occasion.
However for us they fell way short of the experiences we had at Sea You, Yalios, Porto Antico and Sea Caves. Here we were warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. At Onario we were met at the gate by two greeters dressed in corporate medical type of uniform, no smile or welcome. Straight on to the iPad to book us in and to escort us to a table and told that we only had it for 40 mins. We only went there post beach for a cup of tea. The girl who took our order gave us brief eye contact, no smile or warmth. Then the lad who served us the tea in a very fancy pot did likewise and that was our welcome. Furthermore the tea was not up to standard as it wasn't made with boiling water. The staff then walked around with their tablets and walkie talkies with no interest in the customers. We both agreed that we were treated like commodities and not clients.
I think that the management needs to take a good look at the quality of experience given in such a potentially fabulous venue. Perhaps they could be a mystery shopper in the other similar but much warmer and enjoyable venues mentioned above. I debated between 2 or 3 stars. I like human contact, hence I went to 2 stars.
How to kill the goose that lays the golden egg. If you want a good example visit this place. Despite the experience of the family mentioned I gave this 2 stars as I'd prefer to be treated...
