We had a wonderful two-day stay at the Hill View Hotel, overlooking Pissouri Bay. We were lucky enough to get the chance to book room 204 (a junior suite) - a very clean, really spacious and beautiful room. It also included a lovely bathroom, desks for working, sitting areas, a fridge and a totally functional kitchen (which we didn't use because we had booked breakfast at the hotel) as well as a wonderful balcony with sea view - amazing sunsets included
Read moreFine food in a location to match! We called in without a reservation on a Wednesday evening & were seated on the balcony which has the most stunning views! Alongside the normal menu they also have a list of specials. My friend is allergic to dairy & they checked with the chef when making our meal selections. Most of the veg is tossed in butter (& tastes devine!) but they brought out extra veg that was dairy free. The menu also has a handy allergy guide on the back page. For starters we enjoyed squid ink crab linguine & the best chilli, garlic & ginger prawns that were served on a bed of crispy seaweed (I’ll be back for more of those!). The squid ink pasta was a bit messy & left my friend with whips of black splashes around her mouth which we had a good giggle about. The Beef Stifado from the specials menu was delicious. The soft tender meat literally melted within your mouth. I opted for the half duck with apricot sauce. The skin was crispy, the meat delicate & tender. The apricot sauce wasn’t over powering & complemented the dish perfectly. The vegetables were delicious the best courgette I’ve ever eaten served in the style of seasoned chips & fried. It’s not the cheapest place with starters around €9 & Mains around the €18 mark but absolutely worth it if you’re looking for food that’s a little bit special in comparison to the local tavernas. I can’t wait to go back with family & have no doubt this will become a...
Read moreI went to this restaurant recently with a group of friends.
The food was very good, well cooked, hot when it eventually arrived at the table, and was very well presented. In terms of the presentation of the dishes, if the aim was to achieve pretentiousness then it was achieved in spades.
Having said how good the food was, sadly, the same cannot be said for the standard of service we experienced which was quite frankly appalling.
There were three waiters on duty who spent the majority of their time standing in the bar area with their backs to the tables, and as a result paying no attention whatsoever to the customers. On three separate occasions we had to wait some 10 to 15 minutes before we were finally able to draw attention to ourselves and get a waiter to come anywhere near our table so that we might make a request.
The waiters’ total lack of “attentiveness” was matched only by their obvious “indifference” to the needs of the customers.
10 out of 10 for the food, but sadly only 3 out of 10 for the “service” as there really wasn’t any. Had I not been enjoying the company of my fellow diners, I would happily have walked out of the restaurant as I so disappointed by the...
