July 2024 - 5 stars Great quality food at a good price (22 euros per person meze) and generous portions! Very friendly service from the owner itself. Very nice place also (old traditional cypriot house!) Something that is nice is that the owner tells you some options of mezes they have that day and you can choose per person what you like to eat! Their portions are so generous so you can taste a bit from everything! We especially liked the lamb kleftiko with potatoes and we liked that you can choose wild asparagus and wild mushrooms with eggs instead the typical courgettes with eggs!

July 2025 - 3 stars Not as good as it used to be... We visited some times with friends and we liked it a lot. This time, as a two person meze we didn't get excited. Nice that you can order what you like but Simos gets your order very quickly, telling you some of the things he offers. But as it is so quick you don't know how many things to order. Anyway in the end we found its food just ok, nothing special. The meze is smaller and with less variety than elsewhere. Also the quantity and variety is smaller than elsewhere. We had nothing like koupepia, makaronia tou fournou, pourgouri, pasta etc. just small portions with grilled meat. Even the sheftalia was tiny... Not the style of meze...

I’ve been visiting Cyprus for about four years, often staying for extended periods, and have tried many different restaurants and styles of cuisine. Old Simos Tavern remains my absolute favorite.

I wholeheartedly recommend it—you simply won’t find the same authenticity and hospitality anywhere else. The service is wonderful, the people are genuinely welcoming, and every year I’m greeted by the same friendly family faces, which makes it feel extra special. The cozy interior and inviting atmosphere add to the charm every single time.

As for the food—nothing compares. The quality is consistently excellent year after year, unlike other places where it can vary. The owner clearly values top-notch ingredients and preparation, so even the most discerning guest will be impressed.

The meat meze is outstanding, and the best part is that you can customize it to your taste—add the dishes you love, skip anything you don’t, and even combine it with fresh fish. You won’t find such flexibility anywhere else. The kleftiko is also so delicious that I look forward to it on every visit.

If you want to experience the very best of Cypriot cuisine, just go to Old Simos Tavern—you won’t be...

I recently dined at Old Simos Tavern in Sotira and had a good experience. The highlight was undoubtedly the delicious and well-cooked dishes that graced the table. The flavors were authentic and satisfying, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen.

While the service is acceptable, there’s room for improvement. The personnel's lack of resilience and flexibility was noticeable, and it slightly affected the overall dining atmosphere. A friendly and welcoming attitude from the staff could have elevated the meal to a more enjoyable level.

An aspect that stood out positively was the tavern’s environment. The tavern exuded a pleasant ambiance that enhanced the dining experience. The cozy setting and local touches contributed to a relaxed and enjoyable mealtime.

On the plus side; the prices were reasonable, making it an appealing option for those seeking tasty food without breaking the bank. With some attention, this tavern could easily become a top-notch dining destination that balances great flavours with...
