Ploumin — Restaurant in Sotira

I have not been to Ploumin for a good few years but I have always had very fond memories of this place, over the last 15 years.

Yesterday is the last time I will ever visit or recommend to friends and family.

The service was awful. Water bottles were out on the table with no glasses for us to drink from. We had to ask for them. We had to ask to order our drinks. We even had to ask for menus. We were pushed to have meze, despite not really wanting it.

The meze was awful. The staff didn’t understand what was going on. We had one of the courses twice because they didn’t realise and we were honest and told them. The meat was rock hard and dry. Fish was served cold. We sent it back.

We ordered more bread and dips part way through. It never came until the end.

We ordered additional drinks. They never came.

Completely sub standard service, the worst in fact. The restaurant and food has completely fell off a cliff and I won’t be...

If hospitality had an address, it would be the Ploumin Tavern in Sotira. This wonderful restaurant is more than just a place to eat - it is a piece of living tradition, a home away from home.

From the moment we stepped inside, we were not only warmly welcomed, but greeted with a warmth and openness that you only find in a true family business. The owner, a true passionate host, made our evening an unforgettable experience.

The food? A feast for the senses! The traditional dishes, prepared with love and perfection, not only tasted delicious, but also told stories about Cypriot culture and cuisine. Every ingredient, every spice was perfectly balanced and reflected the dedication with which people cook here.

My friends and I were to this restaurant 2 weeks ago. It was such a great experience! We choose the 'Meze Menu', to be able to try and taste different meals to share, from appetizers to mains courses and desserts. There was so much food and it was absolutely delicious! This is the best food we had in Cyprus, also after having traveled and eat all around the island! The manager of the place was very nice, kind and he took time to explain the story of the restaurant, which is a family restaurant, the different meals he served and we had a wonderful time there. The cocktails are cheap and good. We regret we haven't taken a picture with the manager, to keep a souvenir, because that evening was one of the best souvenir we keep from Cyprus.
