U Dřeváka Beer&Grill — Restaurant in okres Brno-město

I had the Jack Daniel's burger, a friend of mine had the spicy burger (can't remember the name) we bit found the food to be good. I was particularly fond of the quality of the meat and the pretzel buns. Overall, the reason why this is not a 5-star rating is that while all ingredients were good quality, the flavors weren't perfectly balanced in my burger but I'm sure that can be worked on. I would definitely come back. I can't really understand those people who are complaining about the beer prices. Most beers on tap come from mini breweries and I'm used to paying as much and even more for these beers elsewhere in Brno. We'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu in the future.

UPDATE (April 2022): The quality of the food of this place has really been hit and miss since my first visit, both in-house and delivery. But after my last experience, I won't be going back any time soon. Me and my gf ordered 2 burgers worth almost 600 CZK just to find out that the beef patty was not freshly made but store bought and pre-processed and absolutely disgusting. How do we know? We've bought exactly these beef patties in the supermarket once and they had the same super dense consistency and disgusting flavor. The problem with these patties is a) they use additives to hold the meat together during transport (this also makes the meat super chewy and adds unwanted flavors) and b) it's impossible to get the Maillard Reaction going, so you don't get any browning or crust (the patties just release too much liquid. Also, these patties are already pre-seasoned. The restaurant still added more salt, making it too salty. But the point really is that I'm not ordering an expensive burger from a restaurant to get cheap, processed and disgusting supermarket meat. It was so terrible, we weren't able to finish the burgers and the rest went into the bin. If this is supposed to be the new "quality" of this restaurant, then sorry, never again. Downgrading my original 4-star...

Perhaps they had a bad day, maybe on some other time, way in the future, we will give them another chance. We have ordered takeaway daily menu via damejidlo at 12:21. Food was at my doors at 14:10, nearly 2 hours later. The restaurant accepted the order nearly 20 minutes after we've placed it and it was supposed to be at my doors at most at 13:50, which was a disappointment from the start. I thought that perhaps they have significantly more than usual orders. When food arrived, the disappointments only grew. We have ordered 2 servings of the daily soup, which was Frankfurtska s parky and two main courses fried cheese with taters and tartar sauce. When I opened the bag, I saw 4 servings of a soup that was certainly not Frankfurtska, unless something drastically changed and Frankfurtska supposed to be green. Flavor test indicated that we have in fact received some form of broccoli soup, but it was really weird and felt and tasted diluted, unsalted, and generally not very tasty. After few spoons we've decided to just skip it, oh well. The cheese itself was fine, it's difficult to mess it up, so I guess even blind cook could do it. The taters were undercooked and completely unsalted. Tartar sauce was rather typical, more of a mayo than tartar sauce, but oh well. We've spent money and all we got was this...

Relatívny štandard v podobe príjemne veľkých porcií a vačšinou dobrého, celkom poctivého jedla kompletne sabotovala moja dnešná skúsenosť.

Pre upresnenie:

S kolegami sme zvyknutí si 1-2x do týždňa z reštaurácie objednať obedové menu. Vačšinou sa jedná o klasickú českú kuchyňu, ktorá nijak extra neprekvapí, no dostanete, čo čakáte od dotyčného pokrmu.

Dnes sme sa s kolegom rozhodli objednať si rovnaké menu. Som zvyknutý, že polievky mi odtiaľto nikdy nejak extra nechutili, nebolo však na nich nič agresívne nepríjemné, a občas som si po vlastnom dochutení aj pochutil. Čo ma však najviac zaskočilo, bol hlavný chod. Ten moju zvyčajnú spokojnosť s reštauráciou, dnešnú náladu, či chuť do jedla na najbližších 24 hodín totálne zdevastoval. Na pohľad neopečené mäso si koledovalo od začiatku o moje pochybnosti o dnešnej voľbe. Po prvom súste som vedel, že toto fakt nedám. Chuť odporná až zkazená, konzistencia slizu. Nič som kolegovi nedával najavo, takisto ako ja sa, ale nahlas počudoval nad výzorom jedla. Po prvom súste z neho jednoznačne vyšlo, že toto jesť nebude, a vedel som, že chyba určite nie je na mojej strane. Jedlo sme obidvaja vyhodili rovno do koša.

Situáciu a zdravý prístup podniku som sa pokúsil zachrániť telefonátom priamo do reštaurácie, kde som zdvorilo vysvetlil, že sa im to dnes nepodarilo. Nestihol som ani vysvetliť, čo bolo na jedle zlé a pán, s ktorým som telefonoval sa celkom pohotovo pokúsil vymyslieť prípadnú kompenzáciu za zlú skúsenosť s tým, že mám počkať na linke 1 minutu. To som považoval za správne riešenie. Ďalšia nepríjemnosť, na ktorú doteraz neviem ako reagovať nastala, keď po zhruba minúte a pol čakania bolo v pozadí počuť rozhovor dvoch chlapov a hlášku "Tak ať mi políbí p*del". Myslím si, že je v Brne veľa podnikov, ktoré majú ukážovejší prístup k ich zákazníkom ako táto trápna, sedliacka hláška pravdepodobne niekoho z kuchyne, ktorú som sa rozhodol prekusnúť a neriešiť ju. Po 3 minútach čakania mi pán povedal, že mám zavolať o 2 hodiny, že majú teraz kompikácie v prevádzke (nečudujem sa, vzhľadom na podobu finálneho produktu).

Zhrunutie:

Po tejto skúsenosti budem považovať akúkoľvek výzvu kolegu "objednať alebo zájsť do Dřeváka" za bezpredmetnú a prinajlepšom mi z nej nepríde zle. Myslím si, že 1 hviezdička je v tomto prípade na mieste. Nebyť predchádzajúcich OK obedov, dám 0. Reštauráciu by som ďalej odporúčil iba ľudom, ktorý sa nemajú radi a chcú citujem "políbit p*del" personálu podniku. Avizovaný kontakt o 2 (3 hodiny po dovoze sklamania hodného jedla) ešte zvážim, no kompenzáciu si už...
