Restaurace Republika — Restaurant in okres Chomutov

I visited this nice gem a couple times and this restaurant is the best one in the whole Chomotov area. The prices are a little bit higher than the the average restaurants, but you will get a very delicious dish. One of the speciality is that they brew they own local beer, which you can try in the restaurant as well.

MEAL I started with a Gazpacho (80 CZK) which was very thick and creamy. The tomatoes were perfectly cooked and it was a perfect entree. For the main dish I went for the Pork Belly (295 CZK) and my wife took the Veal filet fried in melted butter (265 CZK). Both dishes were very nice and delicious too. The pork was very tender and so juicy. Even the Veal was perfect and the mashed potatoes were creamy as hell. But we missed one more vegetable on the veal dish.

Unfortunately I could not eat a dessert, but I finished my courses with a very good and strong espresso.

SERVICE the Service was a little bit overwhelmed with the booking situation. Maybe they did not expect so much traffic at a Thursday evening.

RESTAURANT The design of the restaurant ist very modern und cosy. They have got 2 floors. The upper one is directly at the entrance and it is possible to go down in the basement. This is ver impressive because it is like a cave. Furthermore they have a garden for their guests as well. Unfortunately it is not so cosy and nice like the inside.

LOCATION It is possible to park directly in front of the restaurant on the street. You need to pay only some CZK...

So much went wrong here. I thought I told the server that my wife and I were sharing the hallumi cheeseburger only to find out the server brought a cheeseburger plate and what could only be called the most ridiculous sandwich plate imaginable. Five pieces of cheese stacked inside a burger bun, no meat. When I objected, the server shrugged and said "that's what you ordered?" She refused to take back my stack of cheese in a bum. Because I wasn't in the mood to argue with a rude server on my vacation, my wife and I split the burger and paid for BOTH meals. We didn't touch that stack of cheese though. Now as for the food. Bun, way over toasted and hard as moldavite. Meat, should have been pulled off the grill 5-10 minutes earlier. That poor cow died twice, as the cook (i refuse to use the term "chef" for this person), grossly overcooked the meat. Dark gray inside, black outside and harder than the rock hard bun. Fries were ok, tasted like they were out of a bag, but serviceable. My friend asked the server for the "soup of the day" and she plucked a rolled up piece of paper off the table, handed it to my friend and said "It's Monday", turned and walked away.

Between the rude attitude of my server and the worst burger I've ever eaten, I sure as heck won't go back there...

Hidden Gem with Potential: Great Service Hampered by Access Issues and Limited Menu Options

Reaching this place was extremely challenging due to ongoing road works, and finding parking was nearly impossible. While the staff were very nice and polite even give me a complementary cake take away, I was disappointed to be turned away at 12 noon. The lunch menu, available from 11 AM to 14:00 offered a poor selection with low-quality, unhealthy options at very cheap prices nothing vegan, nothing keto diet, the Alakcarte menus does but available after 15:30. Overall, the difficult access and subpar food quality make it hard to recommend. Hope they make the alakarte and personalized dining available all day round, and offer buckwheat with avocado and poached eggs as breakfast option...
