Periferie is a local cafe in Braník owned and run by a local as a meeting point for the locals. Braník is a special neighbourhood where neighbours still tend to want to know each other. If you want to experience this atmosphere not so common for the rest of the capital Periférie is a good place to start. This is a place where mums like me like to stop for coffee with their neighbours after picking up kids from the local school or while waiting to pick them up from various extracurricular activities. The coffee is good and in spring and summer ice-cream is just as irresistible for local kids on their way from school as the coffee is for their mother returning to Braník from work. On warm days there are a few places to sit on the pavement in front of the cafe. Inside, art exhibitions take turns and from time to time, there is a documentary film screening or a meeting of local residents with their representatives on the municipal level. The deserts are overpriced in my opinion but a pleasant thing is that you get a free bottle of drinking water with your coffee which is not common at all in Prague and there is also a space for children to play...
