My fiancee and I got married in Sønderberg and wanted to celebrate and we chose the Indian restaurant and it was absolutely worth every cent.
The hosts were very pleasant and hospitable, reminds me of a small village restaurant in south indian where they treated us like family.
The atmosphere is very pleasant with sunlight pouring in, very calm and not noisy
We were there with our German friends. In the beginning the steward gave them a introduction to the food, suggested combinations and spice levels. This was very helpful since I usually would have to tell them what each dish is. But this I could just go in and enjoy and they could explore it themselves.
The food was perfect - a good balance between adapting to the local people's pallette but at the same time holding to the orginal roots. Usually I never visit Indian restaurants since they so Europeanised that you can't call it indian food anymore. But this a good place for both Europeans and Indians. Would strongly recommend the buffet if you wanna go all in and eat till your belly is full. Would recommend the mango lassi and masala chai
The host even told me how I should test indian restaurants if I wanna test their authenticity.
The hosts were really kind and we just had to take a photo with them. We were so focused on enjoying the amazing food that we didn't take pictures.
My only wish is if they had a small Indian dessert at the end, something simple like carrot halwa (it shall not be as sweet as in india) instead of icecream bar. Then it is perfect for me, it's...
Read moreWe thoroughly enjoyed a very special dinner here! The food and service went way above our expectations. We managed to make a reservation despite not having cell service for the restaurant to call us on to confirm, but they nevertheless honored it. We expected a regular Indian buffet but were totally surprised and impressed by the through verbal overview of all the food. When I let them know I had an allergy, they checked with the cook and owner (the matriarch of this family restaurant!) who made especially sure I knew which food items were ok to eat. Later in our meal, she came out to say hello and to ask if I wanted to try a lamb dish that she would make special for me without my food allergen. 🥹 Even though I'm typically not a fan of lamb, I have to admit, the dish was incredible. We also ordered an Indian zinfandel, our first experience with Indian wine, and it was pleasant! The rest of the food we had in Denmark was quite bland and overcooked, but everything we ate at Curry Leaves was impeccable, flavorful, and delicious. Don't shy away because it's a buffet; they cook food in small batches and replenish frequently!! Thank you to the lovely family owners for your kind...

You simply have to try this place, be it for the exquisite and tasty food, the best service you can get or just in the mood for Indian food. We ordered from the menu and did not go for the buffet. Wise choice as we were served to the detail of how we wanted our food spiced, getting small tasting samples to try before the main course to match our “hotness” of spices, a warning about not drinking the very tasteful and fresh mango lassi to quickly as we should leave room for the dinner and a super fresh samosa as an appetizer. Fresh, crisp and as an Indian mother could have made it. The main courses was spiced to perfection and just as we had ordered. Even the rice was the good Indian extra long grain rice cooked perfectly.
You should stop by and try - it is a must in Sønderborg and likely the best Indian meal I have...
