On the evening of our third day visiting the Wadden Sea, we sought to get closer view of the "Sort sol" or "Black Sun" (a phenomenon in which a swarm of European Starlings go through their nightly "ritual" of finding a place to sleep among the bushes growing in the marshes), which we had seen the prior evening just south of Tonder across the German border.
