If you are looking for flavorful, delicious and authentic sushi go to Katana Sushi Bar. The variety of sushi is incredible. With each bite you get layers of flavors that are amazing all together. The incorporation of sweet plantain was outstanding and so unique. The presentation of all food was appealing and professional. The restaurant itself is very appealing and aesthetic, clearly depicting beautiful Japanese inspired decor and art. Including detailed paintings and earthy vibes with the plants and greeny all over. The service was great and all staff were very welcoming, friendly and open to answering any questions as well as making sure that everyone was happy with their meal. My family got the tuna tartar, gyosas, tuna roll, Terrenas roll, ahumado roll and Tokio roll. Our personal favorites were the Terrenas roll and ahumado roll. Amazing food!! Seriously the best Japanese food we have had in Dominican Republic (and we have been here for ten months). We loved our experience. The people here are such a warm family. Ferse (the Japanese style trained, Venezuelan chef, he knows his food! Michelin!) and his partner Vanessa (who runs the restaurants in western quality) were so wonderful. The staff were more welcoming than parents haha. We have travelled all over Asia and love Japanese food, this is top notch. We arrived early, so it was a bit empty, but don't let that throw you off. We had lunch there and it was our first visit. First of all, the place is stylish and well designed. It’s nice to see pride in your establishment. The owner/chef sent a complimentary appetizer that was very good. In fact I ordered another one We had nigiri sushi, rolls and a chicken noodle dish, Yakisoba. They were all very good. I’ve read other reviewers saying they could kick up the flavors and spices, and although I’m inclined to agree, it is not worth mentioning specifically.
