The place is super nice. The food was great (seared tuna). The portion of add on fries for $5 dollars was pathetic. The drink coco mojito was I feel like cheap liquor and not too much of it. The prices are like you’re in Manhattan (almost). Light lunch for myself $32 with a drink. Get ready to pretend you don’t mind the prices. This food is good but if you see other reviews some say no. It’s possible they have off times or days or moments maybe when they get a new cook I don’t know. BUT you take a chance… order simple and based on the majority of reviews you should be fine here if you willing to lay down $20-$50 on average per person based my my average lunch. But here’s the trick for here and for all of DR. They use deception all around the country for tourists who don’t understand how the tipping works and how it is on their paper receipt. The government charges 18% tax called ITIBIS then on the receipt is the service fee or the tip which instead of labeling it is such they call it LEY which means law. That’s where the confusion lies people ask at that point…. Ask them is the tip included and they say no but really it is because they want you to pay more. Cause tourists don’t know. They want you to pay another 10% on top of your 10% that makes them very happy, but don’t be taken for a fool. If you want to give more you can, but you don’t have to ……and if you really want to see how your server is and ask them if this tip is included, and if they lie, well, you know what to do. I’m not saying you shouldn’t tip 15 or even 20% to your server if you believe that your service was good. What I’m talking about here is the deception that takes place every day all around...

We drove all the way from Punta Cana to go visit this malécon. And when we arrived my friend was not feeling well in the car and we had Carlos the Venezuelan, an employee there coming to the car and knocking on our window as soon as we arrived. We were talking in the car and he kept bothering us and asking for attention, bothering us and asking for money. So we had to move the car about 50 meters away, trying to avoid him and help my friend that was car sick, and Carlos walked to us to come bother us again, asking money for his baby, explaining his whole life and the business of his cousin not doing well, and asking to buy cigars and saying that he cannot afford milk for his child. IIt was really rude and really wrong. Just because he saw a white man, but we were 4, and my 3 friends are dominicans and we were all disgusted by his attitude. I live here, its been 7 years, I know how things work. But we all have problems and challenges, which no reasons makes it reasonable to throw them in other people's face like that. And while my friend was about to throw up, we had to deal with him and he would not leave us alone. So we had to leave and unfortunately your restaurant lost 4 customers, and now got this review. So make sure you fire Carlos because he's not looking to serve the business, he's looking to serve himself. His baby and the milk, if even truth, is not the responsibility of any random white tourist, which in return wasnt a tourist, and isnt a savior or gpd sent or rich. Despicable, racist stereotyping, rude, and self-centered. My friend is a single mom with 2 kids, she doesnt bother clients at her job for her milk, and she works hard and well, and she hopes for good days and tips, as ethic and...

My husband and I visited Samana and went with our dearest Dominican friend to Santa Bahia restaurant. The atmosphere was excellent. My husband and I ordered a burger and a pizza to share and they were just average in taste. However, our friend ordered Churrasco with chimichurri sauce and a side dish. When I saw that my friend was having a hard time cutting his Churrasco because it was very stringy and very bloody. Being a food lover and a great cook myself, I knew that was not a good steak but I did not say anything. Then my friend put his fork and knife down and call the waiter to let him know that wasn't a good piece of steak as he had eaten Churrasco there many times and they were delicious. The Manager came and brought a Churrasco wrap in clear plastic with the label on it and showed it to our friend and I thought that the Manager was giving him a replacement steak to take home and I offered to cook it for him. To my surprise, he just wanted to show him the steak and left. I have never seen my friend so angry and rightfully so. This is nothing but very bad customer service, not to rectify, apologise and make the customer happy. So sad for such a...

We accidentally walked through this restaurant from the back after using the bathroom behind the building. We were greeted welcoming by the kitchen staff, the pastry chef was also there and the smell of roasted coconut was amazing throughout the entire restaurant. Later we made our way to the front of the restaurant where Gelson greated us again and welcomed us to take a tour with him! His service and attentiveness was wonderful. We ended up sitting at the bar where we had three beers and we couldn’t help but to order to two appetizers from there menu. They were mouth watering! We ended up ordering a huge order to bring back to our hotel. The chef was so kind to us, he accommodated all our wants. The bar had a young man by the name of Henry that had the most positive welcoming attitude. A true gem in the heart of Samaná. The food, the service, the environment I can’t say enough about this place! You must come here, it will not disappoint! Back to that amazing smell of coconuts roasting, it was a desert that had a coconut crust base topped with homemade ice cream and dulce de leche!! I’ve never had such an amazing desert!! Must go here when in Samaná!

My wife and I were totally pleased with the meal we had at Santa Bahia. Not only was the food delicious, the service was outstanding! Our server, Melvin was one of the best servers we've had in a long time, he really enjoyed his job and it showed. The interior is extremely clean and well decorated. They also have a liittle market inside where you can buy wines, meats and a variety of other items. The dessert/ pastry area and kitchen are open for customer viewing. And speaking of dessert, on a recommendation from our server we had the chef special coconut caramel ice cream with a chocolate sauce and toasted coconut- wow- just fantastic. We highly recommend eating here.
