I went here today because I was at the dentist in the plaza, a waiter was translating my order for me, and I kept asking him over and over again about my order to ensure it was correct, he then directed me to the back where I paid for my food, the price was a little pricey but I thought it must be great food, so I googled the money conversion and they took a different amount than my conversion and gave me the change in Dominican pesos that should’ve been converted in usd. I waited for my food and 3 waiters came to me asking me what I was waiting for, 3 times I said the food I paid for was what I was waiting for. Finally my food comes and I thought I ordered 2 slices of pizza a soda, water and a salad, instead I got 2 boxes of pizza and large salad and 2 sodas and 2 waters. I read the receipt and asked them to refund me for all the extra food, and someone that spoke clear English understood everything I was saying and they refused to refund me and lied about what I read on the receipt. I can’t speak Spanish but I can read a receipt. Finally he said he would refund me for 1 water and soda and came back with $.50, what a insult. And I took all the food and walked out. I only needed food for myself and got an extra water for my aunt, I asked for pepperoni slices and they added olives on my pizza for up charge because I told them take olives off my sale, so clearly I don’t like olives.Basically they took advantage of an American. So if you come here bring someone who can translate for you or don’t go unless you just want to spend money with no cares. Because once they take your money they won’t adjust anything for you. P.s. I gave a box to a...
Read moreMy friends and I are teaching English for four months in this country as volunteers and came to this restaurant yesterday. Our waitress was kind enough but we didn’t get any bread like every other table was. Our food got out and did not look anything like the meals around us. My friends pizza had 3 small “meatballs” and 1 piece of basil. The pizza next to us looked smothered in the same ingredients. My sandwich was hard bread and one slice of turkey, and very expensive for what I got ($12). It took 1 whole hour for them to bring us our checks. And another 30 minutes for them to bring us back our cards. I assume it was the manager, but one of the waiters kept looking over at us ushering him over and would avoid our table and eyes at all costs. This was our last meal in Santo Domingo and we were extremely disappointed and saddened by the dirty and judgmental looks and comments from those...
Read moreUpdated: we went with friends a second time a month later and enjoyed it much more. Instead of sandwiches we had pasta, the lasagna and the tortellini. The bread they served at table was very good and the pasta also was good. It still was not cheap, nearly $50 USD for two with water and entrees only, but the good was much better.
The interior is lovely and cute, with colorful decorations and a quiet atmosphere. The staff is pleasant, but the sandwiches we had were really bad. Specifically, they were plated poorly, nothing but a sandwich on a plate. And then the bread was so so stale. It was pretty inedible. I had ordered the turkey and pesto and he had the Italian, which was really roast beef with roasted eggplant. It took a long time for the order to arrive and it wasn't really warm, the cheese wasn't melted. Not a very good meal I'm afraid, and for nearly...
