Taco Bravo — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

Great atmosphere, service was good (despite no one available to open the door for a good 5 minutes on a Thursday at 1pm?), but the food was just not good.

The fact that the restaurant was empty and that we had to ring the security doorbell about a dozen times to be let in should have been our first sign to "run, don't walk" in the opposite direction.

What we ate: Guacamole- the only item we ordered that actually tasted good, but the portion is tiny for the price. Chicken wings - seasoned on the outside but completely bland tasting on the inside, not even salt. Kind of dry, no dipping sauce, just not good. Papa brava - mexican/dominican style "papa brava" with a mess of ketchup and Mayonnaise on top, with Guacamole dollops and a bunch of chopped tomatoes, all on top of French fries. I had asked that they remove the salsa rosa listed on the menu, but it still ended up with ketchup and mayo on top. Tacos de Birria - the worst birria tacos I've ever had, bar none. Get ready to enjoy a very overpowering taste of cloves that will give you heartburn for days. Even the dipping saw was off, more like a gravy than a broth. Just awful.

Do yourself a favor and skip this one. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because the service and atmosphere are great. Hopefully the owners start looking after their business before they end up needing to...
