Mestizart Ecuadorian Restaurant — Restaurant in Baños de Agua Santa

The setting is nice but it is a complete tourist trap. I ordered water which arrived frozen, I asked for a non frozen one and I was informed that they didn't have any. My boyfriend was poured end-of-barrel beer which was only a 3/4 full glass (I guess nobody wanted to change the keg). Our food was really bad. My chorizo was unlike any chorizo I have ever seen (bright pink colour) and to me tasted like fake, processed meat. I also think it was cooked earlier in the day and microwaved before being presented to me. My side salad arrived drowned in the water that was used to wash it, it is complete lack of care not to drain your salad. Veggies were steamed/boiled for so long that they lost all taste, again, complete lack of care. My boyfriend's meat was poor. We did not finish all of our meal and left feeling a combination of deception, irritation...

Very popular with Ecuadorians. Great people watching from the second floor bar area with al fresco dining overlooking the Plaza. We had a late lunch on a bright, sunny 65 degree Friday afternoon and were the only Gringos in the place. The food looked good from peiple sitting next to us.; I had hoped to try Qui for the first time (pronounced coooeee) as it was featured on the menu in front of the restaurant. But unfortunately they were out, which is to be expected at lunch so we had an appetizer of yucca chips and guacamole and cervezas. Looking up we can see a few of the beautiful waterfalls and mountains that surround this...

In my whole 9 months of traveling around South America, between 7 countries, this is the best food I’ve had! I had vegetarian tacos, and an order of Humitas.

I’ve eaten a lot of tacos in my life, but these were different. I would say the best I’ve had.

Lali and Carol (the cooks) have an incredible attention to detail. Every taco had every ingredient, beautiful presentation, and even better taste.

Mishell was not only was very kind and welcoming, but also recommended to me the best activities and things to do here in Baños, which made for an amazing trip with her recommendations.
