I had an unforgettable experience at Montuvia, a warm and welcoming newly opened restaurant located in Cumbaya that perfectly captures the essence of Ecuador’s Manabi cuisine. The food was reasonably priced and was absolutely delicious with each dish containing fresh and tasty ingredients while being cooked to perfection. Each item I ordered of the menu contained rich and complex flavours that I have not experienced before. The seamless blend of citrus and peanut in their jipijapa calarami ceviche better was to die for! The service was just as impressive as I was greeted by passionate, friendly and attentive servers who were also knowledgeable about the menu and each dish. As for the chefs, they were fast in delivering the items I ordered. Last but not least is the amazing bar at Montuvia. They have a great selection of amazing drinks, each one as unique and creative as the next. The bartenders were also energetic and served drinks with great precision. I highly recommend Montuvia to anyone looking to experience a rich and unique culinary experience and fantastic service.

The food is rich, but quite heavy, as it is gushing food everything has peanuts and many condiments. I tried the corviche, it was delicious but not wow, the fish in the filling was hard, in the Cocosolo it's better. The meloso was delicious, it is a large dish. The cazuela is a large portion, I don't like had too much cilantro. The prices are quite high, the kitchen service is fast, but the bar is delayed, they lack service staff. Drink prices are very expensive. It does not have parking, you must park on the street. They have a caregiver but they don't stock up. You must book by paying $10 per person which is then deducted from the bill.

My husband and I have traveled to over 100+ countries and this was one of the top best meals we’ve ever had. We were struggling trying to get our google translate to work, but one of the owners graciously explained every dish and offered recommendations. We got to sampler appetizer dishes so that we could try a bit of everything. Every dish had its own unique flavor note. Nothing tasted the same as another dish. We also got the coco sour and Quaker spritz as cocktails which were so refreshing. I loved that you could see them cook items outside in the fire pit. Highly recommend!

Every aspect of our evening at Montuvia was wonderful, fun, and delicious. From the moment we walked in - and the chef Valentina invited us over to the counter where there was a big open fire and she explained (in both english and spanish) the food she was cooking.

We sat down and even before our delicious and original cocktails came - the other owner Liz came by our table and offered us a complimentary small drink - and some super delicious appetizers (amuse bouche ) She explained the specials - and items on the menu - and we were on way to the best meal we had in Quito.

The restaurant is new. And is in the beautiful Cumbaya neighborhood on a residential street above the reservoir. The decor is so creative and a large tree grows right in the middle of the restaurant . It is made to feel that you are outside near the beach. These owners are so creative and clearly love what they do - love designing, and welcoming, and feeding and cheering up everyone who walks in the door. Don't miss this exciting and delicious dining experience.

Thank you Montuvia - We...
