TLDR: good coffee, nice view, awkward table / seat height, smell of old wet mop, rusty spoon, out of menu items.
So I walked in with my camera around my neck and in my hand as I had just come from the citadel and didn't feel like putting it back in my bag. Before I could even enter I was greeted and told that professional cameras were not allowed but I could take pictures with my phone. So, I put my camera back in its bag.
We sat down. The seat was low and the table was high which made things a little awkward. We really just wanted some coffee, but I was a little hungry so also ordered a fruit salad. Two minutes later the waiter returns to inform me that they don't have fruit salad. Ok, no problem. Then I noticed the very gross and distinct smell of an old wet mop. They were mopping the floor about ten feet away. It's an off-putting smell to have in a restaurant. We also sat there waiting for someone to take our order for about 12 minutes after we had been seated. Lastly, my spoon was either rusty or dirty, not sure which and don't care.
So, the cappuccino was delicious and my friend said his double espresso was also very good.
You might think some of these complaints are unwarranted because it's Alexandria. Normally I would agree. However, they are charging upscale restaurant prices so more should...
Read moreWhile in my previous visit Sedra had a fairly decent experience, during my last visit yesterday I ordered a grilled shrimp plate which was about 800 EGP or $16 for foreigners, the plate literally had 3 small pieces of shrimp and a small bowl of rice, I was fairly confused because the other plate we ordered which was grilled mixed seafood was actually cheaper and had a way bigger portion of food, I was so confused why would a shrimp meal have only 3 pieces of small shrimp each being a single bite and the waiters just told us “Don’t ask me I didn’t make it”, then moved on to say “that’s how the plate is made and we can’t change that”, and then eventually one girl from the reception said “I’ll raise this to the management team to fix the plate next meeting”, I genuinely don’t think anyone will address this, at no point did anyone try to check with the kitchen if a mistake was made, had to order another meal to actually fill my hunger, pure disappointment.
When I took my team from work to Sidra the experience was way better, I guess they care if you’re a big table with a 20k+ check and if you’re just a small table not enough...
Read moreEvery time I go there I swear that this will be my last time there because of their stupid and rude policy for reservations and/or the person responsible for the reception at the restaurant’s door. Today I went there and I’m really sure that I’ll never go back to this awful place ever again. The person at the the door is very rude and impolite he lied to us by saying that the place is fully booked because when he asked if we’re going to have dinner or not we told him that we’re going to have desserts and drinks only it was 10pm and only 2 tables were occupied in the whole place. Its as if he was telling is to leave. And the problem is that he kept arguing and saying because the place is almost fully booked he’ll have to charge us extra per person because we’re not going to have dinner. I hate the way they keep lying that the place is always booked. And i hate how rude and deceitful they are. This was really my last time at this place I’ll never go again and I’ll never recommend this horrible place to anyone. Worst experience in a...
