We enjoyed our stay here. Booked a family room which was a triple. There were 3 twin beds but 2 were pushed together to make a US king size bed (as long as you don’t mind a tiny gap). We found the bed and pillows very comfy (I like a more firm mattress and soft pillows) and slept well. The room had a much appreciated AC unit as well as bottled water. It also had a mini fridge.
This hotel is right at the heart of the Nubian Village. Our particular room did not face the Nile, but had several small windows facing where the boats come to pick up and drop off tourists at the village. I’ll say this area can be very busy as long as the sun is up, however it didn’t bother us as we got up with the sun most days while in Egypt to beat the heat.
Everyone we encountered here was very helpful, regardless of their ability to speak English. Sometimes the service felt slow, but it is a different vibe from what you get from servers in the U.S. Breakfast is included at the on property restaurant on the rooftop. They’ll offer you a to go box for breakfast if you’re going out on a tour. We took a day trip at Abu Simbel by car which was about 3.5 hours. Leaving at 9 am got us back in plenty enough time to beat the early morning temple crowds and have an early dinner around 5.
The decor is very pretty around the rooms. The patio upstairs where the food is served was spacious, and we saw that people just enjoying the area were stopping in for food and drinks. It overlooks the Nile almost at every angle. The only cons would be the heat of summer and the flies.
I’ll note that I believe some of the reviews or images on this listing are for the wrong place. At the time of writing this there’s images of a swimming pool, which this place does not have. There is a similarly named hotel in the area (likely the same family of hotel) with different features. There are some reviews that comment on the price of the food and drinks, but honestly any place that caters to tourists are going to have slightly higher prices. Everything is printed out online as far as pricing and there is a service fee applied in addition. We at all of our meals here and found them satisfactory.
As others noted, finding a driver to properly take you to this hotel can be a challenge. I don’t know why they don’t use google maps, but if you can, I’d suggest arranging pickup through the hotel. We tried, but the hotel wasn’t responsive enough so we had to do it ourselves, but perhaps you’ll have...
Read moreA nice hotel right by the Nile river. The staff is so polite and friendly. Reaching the hotel might be challenging especially if you’re coming by car because you’ll have to pass by the street market and that can be overly crowded. Once you reach the hotel, they welcome you with a nice welcome drink while you check in. The hospitality here was definitely a highlight. The room was spacious and clean but I recommended them to provide paper slippers to the residents because even though the rooms get cleaned, still the floors get dusty. The location of hotel is right next to the market and the harbor where all the boats coming from the other bank of the nile arrive at so it can be busy and noisy in the morning but towards the evening the trips get less and it becomes more and more quiet. All in all I was satisfied with the room and the fantastic view and the service.
Now this is the review of the restaurant. Unfortunately, unlike my pleasant experience with the room, the restaurant experience was not quite as good. The food didn’t taste good at all and some of the items were burnt in the oven a bit. The portions were so small and the price was high. I don’t mind paying the money but I want to get a good quality and a good taste but that wasn’t achieved at all. At dinner, I ordered okra which was alright and grilled chicken which was ok. The appetizer was a disaster 6 pieces of tiny and inedible zucchini and vine leaves (3 each) as you can see in the photo. Molokhia was bland and tasted like water. The drinks were a bit better. The hibiscus juice is definitely the best here. As for breakfast, it was much better. We had a nice filling breakfast especially I liked the fried shehriye with milk.
I would recommend you to stay in the hotel and to enjoy the good service and to visit the...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The concept is genuine and executed nicely but the rooms need attention with poor construction. This wouldn’t take much to fix. Just some doors and windows with bad hinges. The floor slopped down in one place and felt unsafe.
The staff need to be trained in hospitality. Two were nice but in general hardly a hello or goodbye from anyone and very direct almost abrupt communication.
No water, you have to go out into the surrounding area, the Nubian village, which quite frankly is just an over priced tourist trap where you can buy water for 20 pounds! I suggest the hotel gives the people who stay there a free bottle of water everyday with breakfast, a little priceless gesture which really goes a long way.
I’m general there are very poor food options in the surrounding area. They will rip you off and give you tourist prices.
The wifi doesn’t work. I spoke to them and they said there is nothing they can do. They just have one home based router for a whole hotel. They need to contact a professional to install a proper wifi solution for a hotel.
The buffet breakfast was welcome but once again you are on your own ordering your coffee or tea. There is no service.
Taxi services from the hotel to Aswan train station or airport is over priced.
I’m general you are trapped here, away from everything, for...
