I immediately typed this review on my phone upon departure because I was so excited to post it when I had some time and internet. Hadouta Masreya is an incredible experience! My ONLY regret is that we didn’t have enough time as we didn’t land until 1:30 am and had to leave around 9 am. ||Hospitality: Hamed and Shereen were extremely accommodating during and before the trip, respectively. Shereen helped me coordinate via WhatsApp transportation from the airport (and to our Nile cruise pick up point), as the Nubian Village is not directly off a main road. |Our drivers were there for airport pickup on time and patient with all of our luggage and how late it was. They even came back to take us to our Nile cruise pickup point. Furthermore, one of the drivers helped us contact our tour guide when we couldn’t find our guide at the cruise point. They ensured not to leave us until we were in safe hands! |Upon arrival to the guest house, Hamed welcomed us with open arms- literally! He was on the steps upon arrival (it’s 2:30 am at this point) and super friendly and helpful! He offered us juices and helped set us all up. In the morning, he offered us snacks and beverages (as we were too tired to wake up early enough for breakfast- which was definitely offered!!). Just such wonderful hospitality and we felt so sad to leave!||Room: My parents had a private room on the first floor and my husband and I had one at the top floor with the view of the Nile. Both rooms were clean and had functional AC! The bathrooms were updated. Like the vanity and tiles look better than the ones in my bathroom at home LOL. The mattress was on the stiffer side, but that’s a good thing for us, as we do prefer these types of beds. The view was incredible too in the morning when we woke up! Heads up before you book: the Nile view rooms have a lot of stairs so be prepared if that’s what you book. We knew that going in so we had ourselves mentally ready!||Ambience: Nubian Village is so special and beautiful. I really want to come back and visit again! The colors are so vibrant and you could feel the sense of community and pride in their village as you’re driving through. There are cute markets within walking distance too. ||Overall, these positive reviews are spot on, and the pictures simply don’t do this...

Read moreOur taxi driver welcomed us at main door of airport. A chorus of welcome from onlookers. More warm welcome, along with hibiscus tea, by Tarek at guest house. He and staff. catered to our every need. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Would have found handy another surface to put second piece of luggage, and towel rack near bathroom. All other needs meet upon request. My slippers were handy for cool floors on chilly February nights. We were on bottom floor w/o view, stair climbing would have given us that. Roof terrace and sitting room had views. Sahel shared his cooking skills and his love of village and family. Very ample fresh vegetable casseroles, salads, eggs(omelette or hard boiled), sauces, tea, coffee(Amer. or Turkish) and of course bread served for breakfast or request for lunch or dinner includes meat.. Taxi to east bank, $20.00 r/t. 2000 pound limit per ATM withdrawal, but able to do two withdrawals. Great location to enjoy 3 or 4 nearby rooftop venues for very live Nubian music and circle dancing, including Hadouta coffeehouse. Two or three weavers in souq, one having vibrant or subtle colors and good prices. Better than weavings seen in Luxor or Cairo.A 15-20 minute walk to the north, avoiding camel dung, takes you to a beach. You will pass a new kayak rental area. Hotel arranged trip to Abu Simbel ($90.), also trips to quiet Kalbasha(2/3Hrs.on island), crowded Philae(2 hrs on island, needed more) , Elephantine (3hrs,needed more),Kitchener (3hrs), Sehiel (4hours). Costs $30. to $40. w/o guide, exclusive of boat ride to Kalbasha $20. Wifi sporadic, as in much of Egypt.Otherwise ,the west bank, and Hadouta...
