Worst Experience! Would Not Recommend.
We had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. As tourists, we were already wary of inflated prices, and unfortunately, this place lived up to that expectation. When we arrived, we asked for the menu, and they told us the prices had changed and that they would give us the updated prices only after we placed our order.
We ordered 2 fish (1kg each) and seafood soup, and the waiter told us it would take 45 minutes to an hour and the price, which we agreed to. However, just five minutes later, we decided to add half a kilogram of prawns. We waited and waited for over an hour, but still no food. When we checked in with the waiter, he assured us it was being prepared. By this time, five customers who arrived after us were already served and had finished their meals.
After nearly two hours of waiting, we went up to the counter and raised our frustration and concerns. The staff seemed surprised and asked the waiter why we hadn't been served yet. Finally, the food arrived — but it was underwhelming. The grilled fish was disappointing, but the cream soup and prawns were the only redeeming parts of the meal.
Based on this experience, we would not recommend this place to anyone. It was a frustrating and unpleasant experience from...
Read moreWe had read the reviews and was not 100% on what to expect. Point 1. We waited an hour and bit for meal. Spoke to the waiters who kept telling me 5 minutes. This is why I deduct the a star as being told the same answer that came to be incorrect is frustrating and makes you want to leave. Point 2. We ordered and asked how much the bill was going to be. This way we knew how much and felt comfortable. Yes we understand pay a very different price to a local person as a tourist. We had an opportunity to change our order if not happy with the price. I agree with others was told price on menu is not the price.
Atmosphere was very standard of Egypt and a mix of people having a meal or just chatting. Can sit inside with aircon.
The Food! Well overall delicious for the size venue. I thanked the chefs cooking outside with fire grills and hotplates.
The fish was our favourite being very moist and lots of flavour. The prawns grilled the sauce is brilliant, prawns have shell.but have been cleaned from guts. The fried prawns as expected , dipped them in the red sauce for some fire in your mouth. The calamari was just a touch overcooked only by a minute or two that takes it from full soft to chewy. The...

I had a wonderful experience at Gambary Afandi. The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. We tried the grilled shrimp, fried calamari. I ordered the Bouri fish from the Red Sea, and it was perfectly grilled — fresh, tender, and full of flavor. My friend tried the Nile fish, and she really enjoyed it as well. The seasoning was just right, and the portions were generous.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was fast even though the place was busy. The restaurant has a simple, casual atmosphere, but the food truly stands out. It’s clear they care about quality and customer satisfaction.
Highly recommended if you're looking for authentic seafood in Aswan, especially local Nile fish dishes. I’ll definitely...
