Tao - Dusit Thani — Restaurant in New Cairo City

I’m writing to express my deep disappointment following an unacceptable experience at your restaurant, which is located inside a 5-star hotel and is expected to uphold a matching standard of service.

On [Thursday 31st of July], I had a reservation to celebrate a very special occasion—my father’s birthday. Unfortunately, what should have been a joyful evening was disrupted by the extremely rude and unprofessional behavior of a staff member named Linda.

Linda insisted that I had received a message stating that my reservation would be released after 30 minutes if I didn’t arrive on time. However, I received no such communication—no message, no email—despite her repeated insistence. Her tone was dismissive and confrontational from the beginning, showing no empathy or professionalism, especially given that this was a birthday celebration.

To make matters worse, we were told to sit at a high table, which is entirely inappropriate when dining with elderly parents. I explained this, yet no effort was made to accommodate us properly or even apologize. The entire interaction was handled with arrogance and a complete lack of hospitality.

This experience is completely unacceptable, especially in an establishment that claims to provide a premium service. I will be escalating this incident through the appropriate channels, and I hope serious attention is given to the conduct of your staff.

Love this place!! Finally some real Asian food that's actually authentic and tasty. Cocktails are scrumptious. Great atmosphere. My favourite restaurant in Cairo by far. Service at this place is impeccable. Their staff are my favourite in the world, so kind, polite and know what they're doing and so professional. They cater to your every need. I have to mention our waiters/servers Roshika and Grace. They were amazing, filled with smiles and so professional at their job. They go all the way to make your day, which they definitely did. And to complete it, chef Ta is amazing. He was our chef for Chinese food and let me tell you, it's the best Chinese I had in Cairo for sure. Can't recommend it enough. Very fine dining experience!

It's preferred to book before you visit. The service was so professional and very good. They pay attention to the smallest details to make you enjoy your time there.

We ordered:

1- Thai Salmon Salad (9/10) It was full of different new flavors for my taste buds. It was so good and the portion was great too.

2-Thai Red Curry Chicken (8/10) It was full of different flavors as well. A very good choice for those who love the combination of flavors (sweet,spicy,sour). It comes with plain white steamed rice.

3-Noodles with chicken (7.5/10) This wasn't special at all. But it was so good as well. It just didn't taste any different from any hand pulled fresh noodles plate.

Overall the experience was great and The place is so good for that level of fine dining.

Would visit again for sure.
