Yana — Restaurant in New Cairo City

We picked Yana for my parents 45th anniversary celebration as it boasted of The tag line "the taste of India" however there is nothing Indian about the food.

We ordered the following dishes dal tadka without the chicken dal makhani with roti vegetable salt and pepper basmati rice

Dal tadka had no tadka and they served it with the chicken despite repeated instructions from our end that we are vegetarian

Dal makhani had no makhan or the buttery flavour. Worst dal makhani i have ever had

Vegetable salt and pepper mostly had almost burnt cauliflower and a few pieces of capsicum.

Roti was neither tandoori not fulka, was blackish in colour, did not understand what it was made of. Too chewy to eat.

Basmati rice ok but did not have the aroma or fragrance or long grain that basmati is known for.

Only thing that was edible was popadum or papad which was roasted perfectly, unfortunately one was served dipped in dal so had become soggy.

Overall a no go if you are looking for authentic Indian...

I randomly picked this Asian restaurant as a different venue for a sushi night out and I’m glad I did. The sushi was very fresh that it tasted like no other sushi I had in Egypt. Our table was the only occupied table that night, so we enjoyed the whole restaurant to ourselves. Still, I recommend you make a reservation in advance and inquire about the dress code. I personally didn’t like the dim lighting and the fact that they didn’t play Asian music. The usher was very welcoming, while our waiter was a bit touchy only at first, so we made a friendly comment to the manager about that. For the fine quality of food and the nice experience their prices are in the same price range as other well known high-end Asian and sushi restaurants, but you’ll have to decide that for yourselves. The Best Sushi I had in Egypt We went there for my birthday and the restaurant is amazing, clean, ambient, elegantly decorated to serve the authentic Asian experience and with the best staff ever. They were very welcoming especially our waiter Ahmed who did a great job and was so kind to my baby, he was super professional and made our day with his warm smile, thank you Ahmed. The Chef Tamer is outstanding, the salad, Sushi and desserts we had are simply the vest in Egypt, his work shows high technique and he uses top quality ingredients, and we had the chance yo meet him when he came to check on iur table and complimented us with a great creative crab salad they recently added to the menu, thank you Tamer and we will be coming for your food over and over.
