During our recent stay in Sharm El-Sheikh, we found ourselves returning to IBN HAMIDO– for at least one meal. That alone speaks volumes about the overall quality, consistency, and charm of this restaurant.
One of the highlights of our experience was undoubtedly the soups. All seafood varieties, each one was rich in flavor, perfectly seasoned, and always served hot – a comforting start to every meal. They clearly take care with their broths, building deep flavors that aren’t overly salty or artificial, as is sometimes the case in tourist-heavy destinations.
The tagine was another standout. It was beautifully cooked, with shrimps and tender vegetables that absorbed the spices in just the right way. The portion sizes were generous, and the balance of spices showed a clear understanding of traditional Egyptian cooking techniques. It was easily one of the best tajines we've had anywhere in Egypt.
On the other hand, the pasta dishes were a bit of a letdown. While edible and generously portioned, they lacked the finesse and flavor complexity found in other items on the menu. The sauces tended to be bland, and the pasta was overcooked. It’s clear that pasta isn’t the restaurant’s specialty – and frankly, it doesn’t need to be.
Where IBN HAMIDO truly excels is in its seafood. The fish is always fresh, grilled to perfection, and served with delicious side dishes. Whether it’s sea bass, red snapper... , you can taste the quality and care that goes into the preparation. The staff are happy to help you choose from the daily catch, and they’ll even suggest the best way to have it cooked. For seafood lovers, this place is an absolute must.
The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, with friendly staff who remember your preferences if you return a few times. Prices are fair, especially considering the freshness of the fish and the portion sizes.
In short, IBN HAMIDO is one of those rare places that manages to serve both locals and tourists without compromising on quality. If you're in Sharm El-Sheikh and looking for authentic, flavorful Egyptian food – particularly seafood – this is the place to go. Just maybe...

Read moreThis is Sharm El Sheikh's hidden gem! Every single seafood we've had at this restaurant was SPECTACULAR! For example, the mullet dish alone contains four variations of tasty delicious fish and crustaceans. Grilled whole fish, well seasoned, grilled jumbo shrimps along with 2 portions of kofteh style mix. It also comes with a lovely warm soup with generous amount of shrimp! All of which is accompanied by a large side of rice, soft and tender Egyptian bread and a fresh green salad. What a feast!
Ebn Hamido Seafood restaurant's atmosphere is spacious, super clean, modern and tastefully decorated. It's located near an area where locals can be found enjoying their evening at a nearby bakery or hookah place.
The staff is welcoming and gracious. They all seem to be multilingual with a level of care rarely seen anymore. All very professional and kind.
We highly recommended Hamido Seafood restaurant for foreign visitors and tourists like ourselves and are happy we ventured a little outside of Mango Market to stumble upon this five star, clean, very affordable spot!
