When I first ate at the restaurant, the atmosphere was nice.
The food was all too spicy and I'm Indian so that's saying something. So, the general spice levels might not suit everyone.
However, my latest experience with them will make me hesitate eating from here ever again despite the decent food...
We ordered some items via zmall from this restaurant. One item was missing and another item was wrong. So, we called the restaurant as we have done before with other restaurants in such situations to receive the correct order. Note that we had already paid for this order.
The person who picked up the phone sounded rude and dismissive to my wife saying it was not his fault and that his staff prepared the order and that he will do nothing and that we had to call zmall and sort it out with them. This person sounded like the manager or the owner and had an Indian accent. I can't remember ever receiving such an unprofessional and irresponsible response from any restaurant ever! The customer service at a roadside food shack (dhaaba) on a random indian highway would far exceed this level of service.
Nonetheless, we call zmall multiple times... No response. Then we call the driver who tells us "it is not my problem". Then someone from zmall calls back and says they will correct the situation and call back. 30 minutes later, no call back. So, we call again and zmall tells us not to keep calling since they are trying to sort it out. It took us an hour and 45 minutes to have the situation partially rectified through zmall.
Summary of the situation is, do not bother ordering a home delivery from konark and if you do, don't do it through zmall. The combination of unprofessional staff at the the restaurant and the delivery agent makes it a very unpleasant experience. There are better options in terms of both food and service.
Also worth noting is that whatever we had ordered was too spicy even for our Indian palates. In fact one of the dishes is simple inedible so instead of wasting it, we will try incorporating it into something else that we cook.
If you go physically to the restaurant, be prepared for similar mistakes to be made as well since service is friendly but not particularly efficient. But, at least you can send food back and get what you want when you are there.
This is such a shame because we were looking forward to eating from here more often following all the good reviews we received. I guess for now, we will stick to eating at our usual Indian restaurant, Om bistro, which has not let...
Read moreSandwich (konark indian restaurants): It used to be called this because you could pretty much only get it during the magical few minutes between breakfast and lunch. Now that konark Indian restaurant sells breakfast all day, you can probably get this sandwich whenever! It's basically the innards of a konark Indian restaurant (meat, cheese, condiments if you want 'em), plus the egg, ham, and muffin of an Egg McMuffin. Consider it the ultimate brunch sandwich.
Chicken and Waffles (konark Indian): Chicken from a Southern chicken biscuit + the maple-y goodness of the McGriddle pancakes = Heaven.
Power Salads (Panera): Believe it or not, Panera is all for you ordering one of their delish low-carb hidden menu items. These dishes have stuff like eggs, turkey, pesto, avocado, spinach and hummus all without the pesky bread or bagel, so there is less standing between your mouth and the bowl.:
Grilled Cheese (konark indian): Not feeling meaty? Order a cheeseburger without the patty. Simple as that. Extra points if you ask them to grill the sandwich with the buns facing out.
Chicken Quesadilla (Chick-fil-A): Why you would get a 'dilla at Chick-fil-A when there's probably, but if you ask, put their own spin on it. Think their famous chicken, cheese, and possibly some peppers melted between the tortillas they would otherwise use for their wraps. Delicious!
Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (Chick-fil-A): Ask for some buffalo sauce on your spicy chicken sandwich and be prepared to cry hot, hot...
