Food was a solid 4, some dishes (tartar and scallops) even close to 5. The fish what a bit blah and overcooked. Views are magnificent and restaurant looks pretty nice overall. Then why only 2 stars:
We waited over 20 minutes for the menus, eventually had then ask for them. So over 30 minutes of wait even without a drop of water. Cocktails we ordered were however really good. Unfortunately there was not really time to enjoy them as the first dish came quite soon after the cocktails were brought to the table.
No bread was served (or asked if we want to have some), so I asked if we could have some with the second dish. Turned out that bread was not included in the menu, but 2 euros extra per person.
Wine pairing was quite good, but there was no option to have half a portion of wines. The reasoning given for this was that that some of pours are that small, that cannot serve halves?!! Not a real reason, just a rip-off and wanting to sell more.
For the main we had to ask cutlery to be brought separately. When the dish came, it was obvious that it was not the pike perch that that was told to be included in the menu. The waiter then went to check about this and told that the menu has been changed to have trout instead and he did not know about that. We complaint also about the long waiting times and he apologized and promised some compensation.
Desserts were good, but while having those we had to ask more water. I would expect these type of things to happen automatically in a place with prices like these.
Last drop was after we have paid the bill and were just finishing the wines. They basically kicked us out, as the guests for the next reservation were arriving. It hardly was our fault, that 5 course meal could not have been served within 3 hours. Anyway we would have left in couple of minutes. And just some ten minutes before they asked if we want to order anything else. Suggestion: let the people who are coming in, wait for a while and offer them a drink in the bar or something. Have a little respect or it does not matter if customers are not ordering anything anymore...
It seems that we were not only customers having issues. The couple sitting at the table next to us waited 40 minutes for a bottle of wine (and then finally asked why it is taking so long) and also after first dish did not get any food before asking again why it is taking so long.
We (and them) were compensated with one drink, so in our case it was about 10% off from the total. Reasonable or not, I let the readers of the review decide.
However, the waiters were in general polite and friendly. But these smaller and bigger issues did not leave a very good impression. I hope these are addressed in the future, as the place has been open for just...
Read moreBeen to this place few times, on dinner and lunch and also cocktails. The best thing is the amazing views over Helsinki, especially Kalasatama. Food is great too, but there are problems with the service and the noise levels on busy nights.
Every time the entrance has been a bit unwelcoming experience, there is no restaurant staff to greet you as you have to walk from the elevators through the bar to get to the restaurant. IF there is someone, it's the bartenders and it's always a hassle with them.
Food portions can be small, like the dessert, but other than that the food has been tasty and well presented, and the cocktails too.
The terrace has nice views even if you are not seated by the window, which btw you will not be without extra pay. They have never seated me to a direct window seat even when there has been multiple free tables, even though they promise to do so on their website. The terrace also has some of the tables arranged very tightly, so on a loud night, it's noisy or if youre alone like me, you can hear everything they're discussing.
I was tempted to give a 3 star review, but the views alone are so unique and worth a visit and the food itself is good. I just hope they can fix the other issues mentioned. Will keep returning to see...
Read moreThe restaurant has its uniqueness but there is the basis a good enough restaurant needs to maintain. I had quite good lunch experience when the restaurant was just opened. Therefore, there was a certain expectation, though adjusted due to the overall review. The view is yet good as the uniqueness of the restaurant. However, the consistency of quality is not well maintained. I can hardly call there is service comparing to the average to be served in Finland with the same price level. Everyone seemed to be busy but the consumers were left less served. We took the 3-course menu, the food was just ok. The tartar had no flavor that we had to ask for salt and pepper. The seabass was ok, would be nice if the fish skin was crispy. The pistachio icecream was just the ice cream, far from the neighbor Jädelino can offer. Well, I sincerely hope that this restaurant could be a success and most likely, the challenge is with the owners and...
