Finally a famous Vietnamese street food restaurant at the heart of Redi shopping centre Food Port. Well this was something I haven't experienced before. They sell stuffed Vietnamese baguettes and other Vietnamese sorts too. All really excellent and everything is worth trying if you haven't tasted Vietnamese food before.
Redi might not first come to mind as a location you would run into a Vietnamese themed street food restaurant that sells viet themed food namely Banh Mi filled baguette breads. You can also get hot pans and soups too, all Vietnamese themed of course. I'm not an expert to say about the quality or give rating to food via its tradition. Prices are starting here from 12.50 and ending to 20 Euros depending on what you order or combo together. The basic 20cm Banh Mi bread with basic fillings is the cheapest food to get and the most famous and strongly recommended too. It isn't the most filling but as a quick lunch it'll do really well. One side note: Their food trucks have one Euro cheaper prices but then you need to eat outside. You pay for convenience here.
Really friendly service I must say. I really like their attitude even though everything didn't go as planned. Waiting time felt numbingly long because they messed up my order somehow. However it's me to blame here mostly because of this oh so traditional Finnish politeness where you're willing to wait until the end of the world before asking where your order is. I made an order and got the beeper but never got the order. I was a bit unlucky here. On the top of this their payment machine didn't work but none of these adversities didn't dispirit them at all. I really wished more restaurants had this kind of service. Really caring and welcoming atmosphere and wholehearted apologies for not satisfying this just way too polite Finnish pirate scumbag resemblance of a customer. All the waiting was still worth it. Food was great! Ice tea was also great.
Not the coziest places to visit because you're in practice seated at the middle of the restaurant furnace. Though this is exactly the idea of this restaurant - oriented towards street type of experience and though we're not outside I must admit they achieved this feeling quite nicely. There are a few tables just in front of the ordering desk and a couple more by the nearby windows. If you fancy a bit more discreet experience I recommend to use those window tables.
Overall it still was a really good experience. Occasionally the queue was long which tells already much about their establishment. Prices are decent for what you get and food was excellent. Nothing mind-blowingly spectacular but definitely not bad at all. Visiting here during the opening week wasn't my original plan but I'm glad that I did still. I can see there's so much potential here but for now I must admit everything didn't go as planned but I'm forgiving this - you have to start somewhere. This could become one of my personal favourites of east oriented restaurants to visit. I've been planning to visit their food truck at Kamppi for the longest time but it has just a bit inconvenient opening times and location for me personally. This Redi restaurant has a much better location for me. For now I can recommend this restaurant but I recommend having a bit more patience when you visit here because it's going to be occasionally a...
Read moreWe ordered a Banh Mi at Bamilami in Redi. My previous experience at the Kamppi Food Truck was positive – even though we waited 30 minutes despite there being no other customers, the bread was excellent: crispy and just as a proper Banh Mi should be.
Unfortunately, this visit did not meet expectations. The bread was still cold, lacking both the crispiness and fluffiness that an authentic Banh Mi should have. Instead, its texture resembled store-bought packaged bread. I understand that during the opening days, there are many customers, and food needs to be prepared quickly, but should that come at the cost of quality?
A good opening offer can attract customers, but the real question is: will they return if their first experience is disappointing? Hopefully, more attention will be given to quality in the future, as a great Banh Mi would surely have demand...
Read moreFeels like this place is overrated but my friend told me their food truck's food was better than in Redi's new restaurant.
Sizzling pan was a bad choice. The taste was bland and definitely not worth 18€. The coconut rice was a little too soggy for our table. Also some of the beef pieces have membranes so baldy that we cannot chew on it. Overall one of the worst dishes I have had in restaurants for some time.
Banhmi is ok but skip the 28cm size with extra 3€ cost. Can you even tell which of the banhmi is 20cm and which one is 28cm in my photo?
Soft opening deal have free drinks with orders. Those drinks are 70% ice. Also the iced tea doesn't taste good. It's like flavored water, even before the ice have melted much.
The order took 20-25 minutes to get but that's understandable since they keep getting food...
