I was curious about this concept, so we went for dinner with a friend.
At the entrance of the fairly large venue, there is a bicycle workshop. You can find high-quality bikes on display.
The space features a long bar and tables of various sizes spread throughout. The ambiance feels more like an event venue than a cozy restaurant.
The menu offered only a few dishes, mostly homemade pasta, which I thought was a nice idea. We chose a filled variation that seemed interesting. However, I was a bit surprised when it arrived—just plain pasta, simply placed in a bit of brown butter. The taste and texture were good, and you could tell it was handmade, but for the price, the lack of sauce or any accompanying vegetables was disappointing.
For dessert, we had a brownie with ice cream and caramel sauce. In hindsight, we could have skipped it. It wasn’t homemade, and personally, I don’t go to a restaurant to be served a supermarket brownie—cubed, dry, and paired with a single scoop of vanilla ice cream—for 10€.
To me, it almost felt like a scam. Considering the effort put into the handmade pasta, this lack of quality elsewhere didn’t make sense. The total bill was 75€, including two drinks, which felt too high for what we got. It might have been reasonable for fine dining, though this place doesn’t quite reach that level.
I will give it another...
Read moreCycling eatery in Helsinki! Restaurant, bar, bike service and shop all in the same building. Food is fresh and tasty, atmosphere is relaxed and staff is very nice. Selection of simple but high quality portions with reasonable price is a winning combo. Asparagus risotto was the best I've had in Helsinki.
Edit May 2023: Peloton is now serving high quality home made pasta. Highly recommended.
All this excellent restaurant setup is combined with a proper bike shop and service atmosphere. You can bring your bike in if you are not carrying a lock, you can stock up with supplies for your ride or get your bike fixed while you down few quality beers.
The shop has good selection of mtb, road and gravel stuff for sale. You have shirts for DH as well as jerseys for your gravel rides, there is full collection of flat mtb shoes and so much more. Service menu is wide and the prices are reasonable.
This is a huge step for cycling culture in Helsinki and Peloton will most certainly be the hub for cyclist in this...
Read morePeloton Cycling Eatery combines a bike shop and a restaurant. Don't ask me why. It's not a bad combination though, why not have a good meal and shop for some biking gear when having your bike fixes.
The menu is short but well-thought including one main course with chicken, one with fish and one vegetarian. Starters and desserts are a few and the sourdough bread is as tasty as one could expect.
The main courses are a pleasant surprise: the artichoke risotto and pike perch both melt in the mouth and the sea buckthorn ice cream with panna cotta is fresh and tasty.
The service is friendly yet slightly insecure, but I hope this place lives and thrives for...
