The food is fine, but the service is laughably slow and bad.
I really wish I could rate this place better; I had been looking forward to eating there for a long time and I was really excited. Unfortunately, it’s one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had in my home town. I was expecting colder-than-usual service based on previous reviews – but this was beyond ridiculous. We had a reservation, but they ”had forgotten to check for how many” (6) so we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. Sure, mistakes happen, but they didn’t seem too sorry about it. My blini dish came after about 45 minutes but my pelmeni dish didn’t come out until over an hour (!!) after I ordered it. I had also specifically asked to be served the salty pelmeni dish first. One of the people in our party got their dish after 30 minutes, the rest between minutes 45 and 60, and the last dish came almost 75 minutes after we ordered. This meant that we couldn’t even eat together. (And just to be clear, we all ordered at the same time.) And what a wait! The food was far from ”fast” as advertised. They also got one of our orders wrong and seemed frustrated at us for it (??). The food itself was okay, 3/5, but definitely not good enough to be worth this hassle, so I won’t...
Read moreWe visited the place trusting the reviews. Big dissapointment.
Service was bad. The restaurant was empty and the waiter was there talking on the phone and did not even look at as for 15 min or so. When we asked him if we could have a drink he told us we have to order by the phone. That was very interesting.
The big surprise came when we we order the blinit- He recommended us to take the blini with roe, which in the picture of the menu it looked quite ok. But reality was very dissapointing: 2 folded pankakes with about 5 gr of roe and about the same amount of chopped onions. The amount was ridiculous, it was not even enought for one of the pankakes!!. A lot of smetana, I must admit. And that for almost 18 eur. We all like blinis and we have eaten them many times and in many places and these were by far the worst. The dumplins were not good, not bad. The price was not in line...
Read moreWe came here because we read about the place in our guidebook. I rarely eat Russian food, but my girlfriend does quite often, so we thought it would be nice to give it a try. We shared the Borscht as a starter and went for meat and vegetarian Pelmenis (dumplings) for main course. The Borscht was really good, I liked that it was vegetarian if you abstained from the additional meat. The taste was good and a nice garlic bread was served to accompany it. The Dumplings were tasty, even though the vegetarian ones mainly tasted like potatoes and you couldn't really taste the mushrooms. Still a good culinary experience. The only thing we have to "complain" is the size of the dishes compared to the price. The prices are quite high, but that's normal in Finland. Still the size of the dishes doesn't really keep up to it. In general I would definitely...
