I have been twice there in recent times for dinner and my experiences were identical. In short: The view: brilliant. The food: decent. The service: atrocious.
The view should be the number one reason to go there, especially if you’re lucky with the weather, the time of the day (sunset) or the season (white winter or colourful fall).
The food is alright, although nothing impressive or something that you can’t reproduce at home with basic cooking skills and a YouTube video for guidance. The tastes are fine and the best part is that some effort has been put into using a variety of interesting ingredients from all over the world. I would prefer if the menu had some sort of regional focus, rather than having this “crossover” style, but that’s a personal issue.
Unfortunately, this restaurant bears the worst service I have ever come across in any type of food establishment, regardless of whether it’s a hot-dog stand or a Michelin-star restaurant. The same level of repulsiveness was maintained during both my visits. The first time the waiting staff had incompetent knowledge of the menu, was borderline rude and several mistakes were made with the food order. The second time I can describe in more detail, as it’s fresh. The waiter who brought the bottle of water banged it on the table. The waitress who mostly took care of my table had an indescribably angry look on her face, which made every communication with her feel hostile. Instead of replying with “yes” or “no”, she sometimes just nodded her head in silence - that’s something I have never seen before in my life. She never once tried to smile and that’s alright, but she gave lots of smiles to the barman during their chatting. She yawned several times with her mouth wide open while walking around in the dining area. And when 1/4 of the ice cream quenelle on the dish was melted when it arrived at the table, she had the audacity to try and convince us that “it’s normal”. Speaking of the ice cream, it only tasted like milk and it was full of ice crystals.
Another disturbing thing about the restaurant is that part of the staff wears a T-shirt with the slogan that reads something like “equal rights for others doesn’t mean less rights for you, it’s not a pie”. No matter what you stance on this is, I really have zero interest in this kind of narcissistic and sociopathic virtue-signaling rubbish when I go out to have dinner, relax and unwind.
Marco Pierre White has explained how and why service and atmosphere in a restaurant are more important than the food itself and that’s why I will never go “on a date with...
Read moreFood & ambience were fine. The service was rather DISAPPOINTING AS HELL. I am only being nice with that 1 star tbh. My friend and I were forced to move to another table just because we did not have a reservation (understandably so) but the way we were talked to (or talked down 🙄) was rather unprofessional.
Here's what happened: we were initially undecided whether to eat or just have few drinks. But we want to go with the flow and try this place for the first time. When we arrived, we were pointed to many directions before we found a seat on our own. No one was with us to sit us down or guide us where to sit (since they are too specific about their seats anyway why not have one assigned person to take care of seat assignments). After a few minutes, we found a seat on our own (we purposefully sat on a 2-seater table because the rest of the tables are 4 seaters and we don't want to take up so much space) which happened to be a WINDOW SEAT btw, (mind you, NO "RESERVED" SIGN) so we sat there and that's when we were approached in an unprofessional way. Was told that window seats are reserved for those with reservations only. AGAIN, NO RESERVED SIGNS FOUND. The manager (white male) said "But you said you are only here for drinks and not for dinner". I replied back, "But we are hungry too and might order dinner". He speaks quite rude and condescending like we were kids or below him. Of course we moved and understood this situation because we were hungry. All we wanted was to experience this place for the first time. Yes we were undecided initially, but customers change their minds and might even order more if the need arises. In that case, our hunger won us over, so we ordered food. Lucky him, we didn't leave right away. I just felt bad for my friend as I recommended this place for us to try on but this is what we got, AN UPSETTING EXPERIENCE for sure!!! That guy was seriously annoying and proud. His energy reeks with idk what, HE'S SOMETHING ELSE.
Good luck anyway. May you treat others better than how we...
Read moreNot recommended. Initial reaction was rude for one barlady, ignoring or dismissive by head matradee. Somilier or owner ignored question on one bar person only serving.
Came here to check the place out went to the bar section, immediately one bar lady was downright rude luckily the bar manager saved the day through politeness and the behaviour that should be done.
Turns out bar wasn't open until later so shuffled to the restaurant area to wait and get a drink. Unfortunately although they had prepared chefs and serving staff they had not prepared for that.
Asked the somilier but he seemed slightly dismissive, I assume he was the somalier anyway.
Asked from the lady who was presumably the Head matradee, who was rude and dismissive to me and my wife when asked if they could get someone to help serve drinks. Came across as arrogant and beneath her attention.
They left 1 poor chap handling drinks for the restaurant and the increasing line of other people being shooed from the bar side.
Overall seemed prepared for lots of later incoming reservations but overall rude and unprofessional behaviour was mitigated by the barman in the restaurant and the manager in the bar. Barlady, head matradee were rude.
Worked in that industry previously. Wrong recipe that needs fixing, too much self indulgent arrogance, politeness and standards that should be in place for some where that wants to exceed in the higher level option place are not there. Needs addressing, rudeness and as such changes need to be made.
I understand they are concentrating on just the restaurant, but seeing as the bar was closed at 3pm opens 4pm that's not advertised perhaps one more barstaff and a polite matradee are in order.
Not given this low a grade before, disappointing rudeness.
A shame, as once the building work here is complete it would be a stunning place. But you cannot have a stunning place with rudeness by staff and arrogance that's...
