Restaurant Meritorppa — Restaurant in Helsinki sub-region

I got a very bad service here. Our family were stayed in the Hilton hotel wich is located near by. We have a small dog with us. We went for a dinner to the closest restaurant as we were super hungry wich is a Meritorppa restaurant. The waiter not allowed us to sit to the balcony ( it was a rainy day in the middle of the week, restorant wasn't busy at all and no one was sitted on the balcony) or inside of the restaurant. This was explained by the fact that Finland is not a dog friendly country (although it is not so). Then waiter suggest us to sit in the smoking area, he get order from us and... forgot about us. We waited for him bringing us our food for too long time, and the dessert we got only after we pay our bill and when I said one more time that we didn't get it and please remove it from the bill. As I said it was a day with quite bad weather and it eventually became rainy. Under our table was an umbrella but it's was closed. I had to go by myself inside of the restraint and ask our waiter to open the umbrella because we wanted at least to finish our dinner. He promised us to do so later but he never came back to us.

Went for a sunday brunch. We were a group of 20 so we had pre booked and ordered, so based on that the management had decided that the cabinet doesn’t need a waiter. Our water glasses were constantly empty, top ups on the wine nonexistent and we had to wait until we’ve finished our main courses to get the red wines to go with the mains. Shared starters were okay but the mains were inedible. The smoked celery was way too smokey and had no other flavour in it whereas the beef cheek was so salty it couldn’t be eaten. Unfortunately our waiter was way too busy with the other customers to come check on us/take our drink orders/bring more water. dessert cake was very dry. Definitely not the experience we were waiting for, and i wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. We come here once a year for this brunch and this was by far the worst...

Saapuessamme ravintolaan vastaanotto erittäin tasokas, tarjoilijalle isot kiitokset. Alkupaloiksi valikoituivat katkarapu-skagen, sekä seuralaiselle blinit. Skagen oli todella maukasta, blinit taasen palaneita, kuivia ja todella suolaisia korppuja. Blinit takaisin keittiöön ja tilalle uusi yksi iso blini. Tämä kelpasi ja siihen oli selvästi panostettu enemmän kuin ensimmäiseen yritykseen.

Pääruoaksi valikoituivat mustana hevosena hirvi-makkara, sekä seuralaiselle varmana valintana tryffelirisotto. Tryffelirisotto saatu jollain tavalla sekä erittäin vetiseksi, että liian suolaiseksi, eikä tällaista komboa oikein yrittämälläkään usein saa aikaiseksi. Hirvi -vaikka riistaa onkin - oli todella kuiva. Lautasella olevat makkarat myös maistuivat pakastetuilta/kaasuun pakatuilta tuotteilta. Kastikkeen (sinappipohjainen) ja lisukkeiden sekoitus ei toiminut hirven kanssa lainkaan, vaan peitti koko hirven maun. Toisaalta makkaraa ei ilman lisukkeita voinut syödä kuivuudesta johtuen, joten kaiken kaikkiaan hätiköity idea. Myös annoksien päälle heitetyt rucolat, sekä muut salaatit olivat silmin nähden nahistuneita, eikä paikassa ennen näkemääni esillepanoa oltu mietitty yhtään. Plussaa tulee perunasta, joka oli kaikin puolin täydellinen.

Ruoan suhteen siis täysin luokaton esitys. On vaikea arvailla, mitä keittiössä tapahtui. Ehkä kyseessä oli harjoittelijan ensimmäinen päivä, sillä kontrasti aiempaan käyntiin oli valtava. Jälkiruokiin emme tutustuneet, sillä ruoan heikko taso päätti illan pääruokiin. Tuon esityksen jälkeen toivoa ei enää yksinkertaisesti ollut.

Palvelu sen sijaan oli todella tasokasta. Meille yritettiin toki tuputtaa täyttä laskua, mutta tämä mitä ilmeisimmin johtui siitä, että meitä palveli kolme eri tarjoilijaa. Suun avattuamme tilanne kuitenkin korjaantui, vaikkakin hinta/laatu-suhde jäi tästä huolimatta pohjamutiin.

Kokonaisuutena pettymys. Olen kuullut tason tippumisesta ja ollut kriittinen tällaista puhetta kohtaan, mutta kokemus oli todellakin jotain aivan muuta kuin aiemmin. Tsemppiä...
