Is near the center and has a great view from the window. And the people were nice. But, I didnt like staying here. First, (my fault because I didnt read all of the info) we didn't know that there was no reception and that we had to get the keys at another place. And this place is a nice restaurante... so.. it was a weird place to check in. The room is ok. But the shower was too hot or to cold.. it kept changing the water temperature. Then the 2 days breakfast were inside the refrigerator. We had to make it. We had yogurt, cocoa e coffee powder, juice, bananas and 2 sandwichs (main option) and both were filled with fish. My husband don't like fish... he has no allergies.. but he doesnt like it. So he didnt have much options.. Then the door that we could not lock! We tried everything.. we left it unlocked when we left the b&b to walk around the city and when we went to sleep. We didnt like that at all. I'm sorry about this review.. but I really didnt like this place. I felt it was expensive for what it...
Read moreWe stayed a couple of nights in this B&B/ restaurant/ brewery and it was so nice. The owners are really friendly and lovely, the rooms are clean and light, and the brewery & restaurant are great. We splashed out on a meal at the restaurant one night and it was beautiful. Definitely more gourmet than our usual sort of place, but worth paying a bit extra for such nice food and dining experience. This place is Finnish simplicity and hospitality at its best. The location is fantastic- right on the lake shore and a short stroll from the centre of the town & castle. I would strongly recommend Savonlinna as a great place to stop for a couple of days, and also to stay at this B&B. It might seem a bit expensive at first, but remember this is Finland- you need to be prepared to pay a bit more than you might usually at home and compared to other places I stayed at/ ate at over the course of a three week visit I would say it...
Read moreWe stayed two nights at the Huvila B&B in June 2013. We had a wonderful stay in a cosy room which had all we needed plus a lovely breakfast, continental style, with delicious Finnish rye breads, hams, cheeses, yogurts, juice and coffee. On one of the nights we dined in the restaurant downstairs having the local veal which was a real treat. As other reviews have noted the staff are extremely helpful at recommending drinks to go with the meals and the menu had clearly been designed with the on-site brewed ales and porters in mind. They complemented each other perfectly. We met Jussi, the landlord, on our first evening - he really made our stay in Savonlinna special by recommending activities and giving us a tour of his brewery. We felt extremely well looked after and would definitely recommend Panimoravintola Huvila, Savonlinna to anyone looking for somewhere friendly and unique to stay when travelling in the...
