Malabadi Hervanta — Restaurant in Tampere sub-region

This is the only Turkish restaurant which I've been in Finland since I moved. I've seen other Turkish restaurants in other countries though so I must say the taste of the food and the restaurant itself are genuinly closed to the original Turkish food -even the cook puts own interpretation on some of the dishes- and the interior desing of a regular Turkish restaurant in Turkey. Sometimes my brain goes crazy when I went to a Turkish restaurant outside of Turkey becuase of how far the desing of the restaurant and the taste of the food is from the standarts of even a middle class reastaurant in Turkey. I guess the owner doesn't play the oriental card to have customers. However I must also say that almost all the dishes are beyond peppery than how they originally are . We weren't sure we had found the right place until the owner assured us that we had. He was sitting outside, saw us looking a bit lost and welcomed us in. Friendly doesn't even begin to describe this man. He explained the buffet to us and also showed us the menu. We chose 3 different menu items: chicken, lamb and minced lamb. I sampled the different non-lettuce items in the salad bar and each was delicious. Out came our meals and, holy cow! There was much more food than we had anticipated, and we enjoyed each and every bite. A piece of baklava for dessert and we were all truly stuffed and happy. This review is based solely on lunch hours, of which I've spent a fair number at Malabadi. The lunch offers an excellent salad bar, and a few different options for warm foods. I've been satisfied with the lunch each time, and the only note is the lunch price which is a couple euros more than the norm. Regardless it's only a few euros, and probably the salad bar in itself justifies this. Lunch is very popular here, but you can usually grab a table.
